Have I got the wrong impression of this game?

So I started playing this game on PC, and i love it, really fun, graphics, gameplay, the people, all great.

I finally got to a level where i can PvP and i felt that all i was doing was running huge distances just to even find one person and there was sometimes no one even there.

Also I am more of a PvE player and this game doesnt seem to have much PvE content does it? As in raids etc?

This game is absolutely loaded with pve content. It's in fact a pve-centric game in my opinion. Dungeons, trials (raids), and more questing content than you can shake a stick at. In Cyrodiil (pvp) you have to check your map for action, not a whole lot going on in the spaces in between keeps and things. The map being ridiculously enormous even further exacerbate's that feel of not seeing anyone. Also look at time of day. PvP is one of those prime time/down time type activities.

Time for you to join a guild.

This game is tough if you use the grouping tools so join a reputable guild, make friends in game and you'll be doing content in no time.

Side note it is a bit of a solo fest until level 50 though unfortunately

No, there are no raids, since they are called Trials in ESO.
    There are instanced dungeons.
    There are public dungeons.
    There are open world bosses.
    There's a solo arena.
    There are anchors.

Then there are solo activities like killing and stealing to make money.

There's plenty of PvE stuff to do.

For PvP, you need to know how it works to get to the right areas, but a full speed horse is kinda a must in PvP.

Have you done any of the 4-person dungeons yet? There are 18 "normal" dungeons and 10 "Veteran" versions, as well as four 12-man Trials (two of which have normal/veteran versions)

Cyrodiil takes some getting used to. Once you've been there a bit, you learn to anticipate where the action is going to happen and you spend more time actually fighting rather than riding back and forth. But PvP is best with a small organized group that knows what they are doing.

I also find it's quite the learning curve, where at first you just die a lot, and then you get the hang of it and it evens out.

You don't have the wrong impression of PvP. It's largely a big waste of space.

There are battles but they may not be popular depending on the campaign and faction.

PvP outside of IC is not a place to expect lots of snipe attacks as its a huge barren place that would better serve as another PvE scaled zone

Then if they broke Cyrodil into three sections and called those campaigns that reset after a Keep was taken, it'd be a lot more populated and fun

Finding the right guild will help out allot. There are some raids, though not a ton of them. But find a guild that runs what you are looking for and enjoy!

If you're a PvE player, don't feel pressured to join in PvP. A lot of PvE players enjoy the game, only stepping foot in Cyrodiil to collect the skyshards there.

And you said that you just got to where you could PvP? Does that mean you're around level 10 right now? At level 10, you're probably still in the first zone. You've got a ton of PvE content to get through... 40 levels worth... and that's not even counting the endgame stuff like Trials and the rest of the Tamriel map opening up. XD

There is plenty of PvE content left, don't worry!
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

I had the same thought a couple years ago about pvp when I first started playing. Once you start to understand Cyrodiil a better, how the combat flows, you will be able to predict where fights will happen and even start some yourself.

As others have recommended, you should join a guild to pvp with. Also, when you go into Cyrodiil, ask in chat if there are any groups forming. There are usually at least one or two pick up groups roaming around that are a good place to start if you are new.

The PVP in Cyrodill is great (when its not lagging and crashing of course). Its meant for big armies (aka zergs) and small groups of gankers (you can do much better with a fine group of 8 warriors properly equipped than a casual zerg). You can still try to go solo, but there is no honor in war and most of groups will engage you specially if they outnumber you or not.

If you want small scale pvp, I suggest you to go to IC, but be prepared because its a guerrilla warfare style and players there usually are much more experienced.

Concerning PVE, the game is doing quite alright, tho the number of trials for a 2yo mmorpg is very low.

As my fellow comrades stated above, grouping is a must do. For pvp and for pve.

As others have said the key to pvp is learning it. Once you have been in awhile you will see how the fights flow and to predict where they will be.

It isnt a bad idea to join a guild pvp minded as well. You can be in 5 so one for pvp aint going to kill ya. Get it? Pvp? Kill ya? I am hilarious! Ive been in several where they arent hardcore they just like to pvp. So there is no real pressure to be there all the time and no one laughs when uou good up. And with a good group it is much easier to find fights or start your own.

At this point I have a harder time not finding a fight in PVP than the reverse. Here are some tips for you assuming you're looking for a fight and not to just pretend Cyrodiil is a PVE zone.

    - Find a server with equal populations. I'm on XBox. Those are generally Scourge and Haderus.

    - The biggest fights will be at the edges of your faction's area, especially along the inner ring. Sejanus, Bleakers and the 3rd outpost I only see once ever 4 months are usually hotly contested.

    - If you run into a Zerg along the outer ring you just got bad luck. Usually they are pretty quiet.

    - Quest cities are the realm of the ganker as are the lines between keeps. If you want to stay safe travel 100 yards off the beaten path.

    - One way to have fun and help your alliance is to take resources. This can totally be done solo, but that can be tough for even the best players. If you have even 1 friend helping taking all the resources around a keep and moving onto the next one is a good time.

    - When in doubt just travel to the place on your map with the biggest fight icon.

Lastly, assume that you will die a lot. At this point I PVP almost every day, am pretty good at it, and over two hours I'll still die 2, 4 or even 10 times. It mostly depends on whom I run into and how stupid my attack strategy is. Conversely you can wipe 40 people with less than 10 if you come across people that don't know what they are doing. Being out numbered is not a guarenteed death sentence; panicking without a strategy for many types of encounters certainly is. The best players can fight 1 on 1, 1 on 4, 5 on 5, 10 on 40 or 100 on 100. Play long enough and you'll see all of them.

Lastly when in doubt be aggressive. Put pressure on your opponent and make them react to you. Sometimes you'll fail miserably and get tea bagged for it, but sometimes you'll kill 25 people in 5 minutes.
