    Jessica,

I've been seeing this off and on since long before the recent patch. I would be more specific but I've been away for a year, returning gleefully once I'd learned the VR system had gone away and that more and quite splendid multiplayer options had been added to the game, along with the abolition of the whole endgame faction thing in PvE, coming soooon!

Although off-topic I must say that Wrothgar is quite a tour de force. Outstanding work! And, while we have this head twisting glitch, it's rare and it too shall pass :)

There have certainly - and are bound to be - snafus such as this. And it's by no means as....well...bizarre as the bug-eyed NPCs of old. This was fixed but I offer it as a bit of perspective because NPCs that won't look at you are far better than ones who do, in some cases :s

Here's Crafty Lerisa who, for a time, seemed far too surprised to see you....R.I.P. Redguard Light....

Whereas this fellow seemed quite traumatized at becoming a prisoner, even though you're rescuing him....

This thread needs your attention. Animation cancelling/melee combat in general is broken, and has been broken since DB. You acknowledged it a month ago and nothing since, communication please.

I've just been standing to side when I interact with NPCs. That way they aren't ignoring me, it's the dialog camera that's wrong.

also been seeing this - can't say when, but it was right after a patch it started happening to me

also, as several have mentioned - cancelling out of the dialogue and talking to the person again seems to reliably get them to look at you as normal

a little obnoxious having to basically start every conversation twice, but a relatively mild inconvenience overall

Can confirm, this has been happening to me and my husband since the DB patch, we quest together and the NPC's are always looking in the same odd direction on both of our PC's. I have bug reported this. Exiting the conversation and re-initiating it fixes the NPC so they are looking at you properly :)

They turn from us because they know all the murders committed. The DB Expansion came out and it was just devastation everywhere from their trusted heroes.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

This is misleading. I've tried getting right up in their face in front of them, and still opened the conversation to see them twisting their head away.

I'd also turn my head away if you got all up in my face. :(

This happens to me as well. If I close the conversation and reopen it, it usually fixes itself the second time.

Returning to a somewhat more serious tone, I tried this suggestion of Lokryn's and it works for me. I simply exit the dialog when the NPCs go all twisty headed on me, try again, and they've suddenly summoned the courage to look at me ;)

Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."

Had this on PC NA for about ... two weeks now, give or take. Mostly they look to my right, occasionally to the left.

Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Thanks, all. We've investigating why some NPCs have suddenly become so anti-social. This was after patch v.2.4.9, correct?

I noticed this start to happen with Patch 2.4.8. Not all NPCs are affected, but the ones that are, it's nearly 100% of the time. Especially bad in anything to do with the Thieves Guild. Initializing the conversation for a second time usually fixes it.

I have the same issue. Not a werewolf or vamp. Just a champion 51 sorc. All the heads are turned to the NPCs left or screen right.

FIX: As suggested, the FIX is to close the dialog and reopen it. This generally has the NPC facing you then. Have fun!
