Tamriel Beast Collector Achievement in Shattered Grove, Auridon

I've spent over 8 hours over the span of 2 days trying to get the wolf and bear trophy in Shattered Grove, to no avail. Which got me wondering, do the wolves and bears around Shattered Grove not drop trophies once the associated quest is completed? (they're no longer hostile) Or does the RNG just hate me?
Plz help, my mind has gone numb from farming so much.

Whether the creature is neutral or hostile shouldn't matter, I've gotten trophies from killing neutral mobs before. The only thing that should effect whether a creature will drop trophies for you or not is if you over five levels past the creature's level. For example if your level 15 and the creature is level 8 you won't be eligible to get loot drops or experience, so no trophy.

While it's possible that there is a bug preventing the creature from dropping the trophy correctly (it's happened before), most likely it's just really bad RNG. Trophies have really low and terribly inconsistent drop rates. It might drop on the first kill or it might not drop even after several thousand kills.

The destinations add-on will show you the locations of the various collectible mobs.

My understanding is that you have to get experience from the mob or they don't drop the collectible.

same for me with the durzog trophy.. its the only missing trophy. killed at least 8000 mobs over the past weeks. didnt drop for me

I farmed Auridon for wolves as well, but no luck there. Finally got my trophy from the wolves in Eastmarch, close to the Northeastern border of the map.
