I use a third party app to track research, and would most likely continue to do so if the UI was changed.

As such, I neither agree nor disagree with any UI changes.

I don't play on console, but I do use the addon shown in the OP (AI Research Grid).

Push a button to bring it up, push it again to make it go away.

I think you would have to have a screw loose or perhaps just really love keeping track of hundreds of things on pen and paper to not want this available to you instead of needing to visit the appropriate crafting station and manually sift through all the styles/traits.
