I want a ice staff build but dont know if it will work need help

There aren't enough spells or passives in the game that supports a Cold build which is the core of the problem. I think outside of using a Cold Staff there are 2 Cold spells with one of them is an Ultimate. As far as I know, there aren't any classes that also support Cold damage as any advantage, it's ZoS *** child element that they discourage players from using.

High elf has the elemental passive and dark elf will get it in August. The shield ice staff gives you is crap but it can be used as cc

its stupid that they don't have more I would love to be a frost mage over fire shock or magick damage the shield from the paasives is crap need to they aslso need to either buff the two handed stats given or cut duel wields in half cuase it counts as 2 weapons so it gives double two handed weapons gives makes no sense

I believe there is a set that helps with an ice build, but I can't remember what's is called, I'm sure someone will mention it.

I think it can be combined with Ice Furnace, but you need to go 5 heavy

A quick theory craft for the next patch:

Race, Dunmer/Altmer

Class, DK, vMSA ice staff

skills: burning embers, elemental ring, molten armaments, blockade, inner light, U Ice Comet

Sorcs can make use of it in a group, but only if you use blockade and ice comet with winterborn set for CC reasons. And even then, sorc passives mean you're probably more useful with a lightning staff.

There is a mag sorc ice build, that has been posted on the forums a few times, but i am too lazy to search it for you. 5xwinterborn, 2xnerenieth,3xwp jew, 2xice maelstrom staff

One of the basic idea is to have as much winterborn & nerenieth uptime as possible for the obvious reasons.

Here is a thread with details about it in the german forum:

(at the bottom there are some dps parses for vWGT/vICP, which range from 20 to 35k)

Nerieneth doesn't procs on DoTs anymore. I'm quite sure (I wanted that build, but I saw that Neri tooltip changed)

A new Ice damage build is possible now with Update 11.

Best on a Dragonknight, but I will use Sorcerer to test it out.

5x Winterborn
5x Ice Furnace
1x The Maelstrom's Ice Staff
1x The Maelstrom's Restoration Staff

Believe me, built correctly this will be a legit powerful setup. My Sorc just needs to find the jewelry and two armor pieces for Ice Furnace which people will overprice for the first month or two.
