Question.
Is there a trait that aids in damage mitigation when blocking with a shield? I know REINFORCED increases armor value, but does that help with damage mitigation or is that just a value increase?
I'm finishing up a build and can't decide on a trait for the shield (it's a dropped set that only seems to come in Reinforced, Infused or Divines).
Which trait would be best? I have a Reinforced one, but am thinking of selling it for an INFUSED one and using a Hakeijo.
Anyone got any pointers?

✭From what I had read on the PTS forum prior to the release of DB, was that for shields, Nirnhoned was the way to go because the fixed amount of resistance was higher than the percentage increase of Reinforced on smaller armor pieces. I'm not sure if that changed. Anyone?

I'm looking for a Leki's Shield actually. I've searched all day in all guild traders and no one has it with Impenetrable. I've never seen one and the wiki says it does, while another wiki says it only comes in Reinforced, Infused or Divines. So I have an Infused and a Reinforced and trying to figure out which one to use.0 -

✭Hmmm... I'd have to look and see if I have a Leki's in Impenetrable. As a PVP only set, it most certainly should come in Impenetrable, unless there is an itemization bug at work.0 -

It is true that Nirnhoned offers more than Reinforced to armor pieces with low armor rating. Shields when amped with Shield Expert and the Heavy Armors barring Gauntlets and Girdles see little to no additional resistance over reinforced, if not less.
As for Damage Mitigation, sadly there is not. You can, however, run Sturdy to reduce the cost of blocking thus letting you block more to extend mitigation capability.Guildmaster of Power With Numbers in PS4 NA Server's Aldmeri Dominion.

Reinforced only serves to increase the armor rating, which is basically more Physical and Spell Resistance. In PvP people tend to run high Penetration so you'd need a very large Resistance rating for it to mean much. As has been said for PvP you're most likely better off running Impenetrable. I am not familiar with what Hakeijo does since I don't do much IC and have not purchased a rune to experiment with so I cannot say what it does but if what it offers your Shield, if anything, works for you then you can try Infused I suppose, if nothing else works for you.Guildmaster of Power With Numbers in PS4 NA Server's Aldmeri Dominion.

gamerguy757✭✭✭✭✭@UltimaJoe777 You are absolutely right. Impenetrable would be the best choice, but like I said, i can't find ANYWHERE, LITERALLY ANYWHERE OR ANYONE, who has seen or come across a Leki's Shield w/ Impenetrable.
Hakeijo increases all three stats. And with infused it will increase it by another 15%.0 -

✭✭I honestly prefer reinforced for my shields when I do PvE content (I do not rock shields in PvP); I'm not sure if nirnhoned provides more resistance especially since the armor CP gives 75% more armor to your shield and if you combine that with reinforced you'll have somewhere around 3995+ armor (at legendary).不動の Steadfast - Unwavering

✭Physical and Spell Resistance has a cap 50% mitigation on damage which you achieve around 33k I think. So if you are below that using reinforced to get you closer makes sense for PvE. If you are over that having infused makes sense for more resources. Sturdy is my preferred currently for PvE tanking, but I note your comment on the restricted choices.
Pretty sure that on PTS atm the PvP bags being sold in the capture towns are dropping more traits on sets so you may want to wait for Update 11 if you would prefer sturdy trait.PUG Life - the true test of your skill
