Equipment upgrading way too expensive!!

While upgrading armor is a luxury, upgrading weapons is a must.

Alloys are getting very expensive and we need like 80k now per weapon.

It just kills the excitment of trying new builds and sets, i have gear for a healer and a stamina DPS and i just level others with the same role since its very expensive to get new gear again. Not to mention the lack of motivation to actually try any new set for them.

Improvement mats need to be more accesible, ot won't hurt the game, it will just encourage people to create more fun builds and change more making the game more fun.

Do you guys agree? and if not why not?

I guess it also depends on what you play... I doubt solo PvE quest players are upgrading their mats too far... I upgrade to Purple EPIC and that's as far as I go. Every time I get a gold mat from my hirelings I turn around and sell them in the Guild Trader, I have no need or reason to upgrade to Gold... especially when I see the stats aren't all that dramatic anyway. I do put Gold enchants in my weapons though, but that's as Gold as I get.

Initially I thought the jump at V16 / CP160 was unnecessary however it does give you something to work on. All the daily writs, and generate income to buy what you cant farm.

Do to lack of storage, and need for mats I've found so much more in the game. Trading, guilds, crafting, writs etc. That I never would have found if it was all cheap. So long term, im ok with it now it is

Have max levelled blacksmith to make stuff & do writs daily - generally do ok but never have enough grain solvent or temporing alloy, which is rather irritating...

Also cant seem to find any items that I can now research to increase traits known. This means am stuck unable to craft certain sets.

If max crafter does that mean have to have certain level stuff to research?

So to answer, yes, is a tad frustrating but don't necessarily want it made super easy either!

I literally use only purple gear for this reason. I'm too cheap.

But think yourself lucky we've not had a gear level increase for about a year. Pretty soon it's about to get a whole lot more expensive. ;)

Im a Solo PVE and farm/quest everything I own, sell what I can, trade upgrade materials in guild for things I need.
If it was easy to upgrade to Legendary it wouldn't be special.

You don't say which platform you're on, or which server. You might want to look for a guild. I'm currently in 5; three trading and two pve/pvp/group stuff. We all make stuff to help out our crafters, especially in the last two guilds.

If you're pc, on the NA server, I would be happy to make you any research trait items you need, except nirn, for free. If you want nirnhoned items for research, send me the nirn, and I'll make the items for free.

RNG hates me, so I find very few nirncrux. Finally got enough to start the last nirn items I need for 4 weapons and two light pieces of armor. I have all the heavy and medium armor, bows, two staves, one handed sword and the two handed weapons done. Down to 114 some hours, finally.

i upgrade them to purple to try them out -- if i like them i will make them gold.

get hirelings for everything and do writs every day -- i usually get three to four temp alloys per week doing writs. per character.

i havent paid for a temp alloy since the game first came out. when i needed dreugh wax i found them in the traders cheap enough or i traded 1 alloy for two wax.

its end game gear. shouldnt be easy to acquire or level

While upgrading armor is a luxury, upgrading weapons is a must.

For all you players who aren't using the must-have upgraded weapons, you're doing it wrong.
Alloys are getting very expensive and we need like 80k now per weapon.

A little bit of an exaggeration. But ok...

This game is not exciting enough for me because it is not very easy to get the best gear in the game. The best gear should be the cheapest. So many gear sets to try, and you can't even be motivated to do it!!
Improvement mats need to be more accesible, ot won't hurt the game, it will just encourage people to create more fun builds and change more making the game more fun.

Rare, higher-quality materials should be widely abundant, so those who can't earn that type of progression through playing the game can get upgrades easily. There would be loads of legendary gear for all the noobies to have, making the game fun for all of us! Because you can't possibly craft new gear that isn't fully upgraded.

I see no problem with the cost and rarity of the items. I saw this as someone who hasn't shelled out to gold anything but weapons on my numerous alts.

That said, I was irked the first time I saw it was 8 gold instead of 5 and I fully support making it only 5. It would make upgrading somewhat easier but it would mostly just make more sense.

Is it me or did they nerf the drops of tempers? Ain't getting close to what I used to.

One of my guildies who farm a lot refined 3000+ ores yesterday and got 9 tempers out of it. I still support the theory that you get more golden mats when you refine several different mats at the same time. Still I get a lot more wax and rosin than tempers (and I need stacks of it  )

I will say this bro....going gold isn't really necessary. I run VMA and PvP in all purple gear and just PWN. The 5 point difference is purple -> gold is not worth the gold. But if you are a little OCD about it, like I tell my guild mates...DO THE BJLAHSLKDHLSHFLS WRITS!!!! I'm sitting on 115 Wax, 65 Alloys and 79 Rosin and 50 Kutas from the writs. Bruh they work.

In the time it takes you to type this out and post in the forums, you could have farmed and refined enough rubedite to get at least two Alloy. I upgrade my gear all the time, but I don't pay for the materials. The materials are out there for free if you're willing play the game and go get them. You can't blame the price of items when what you're paying for is the time it takes to gather the materials.

Go do it yourself, then you don't have to buy anything.

I love doing it ;) Sometimes after work I'm so tired I can't even hit the keys fast enough, so I just trot ahead and collect the mats. Or fish. What ruins the game for me is the zergs in Cyro or dungeons and morons spamming spells in the cities or murdering every living soul :/
And you can get a LOT of tanins/resins/alloys from raw mats. I usually get around 100 mats and at least 3 gold thingies in one hour.

haha, 80k for gold mats eh? Sounds like a deal to me. That's 10k an alloy. I'd buy all day in your realm. But here? These greedy players are charging 13-15k a piece in NA PS4 at guild traders.

Twas only back pre TG that we had 9k alloys and 4k wax. Now they're 13-15k(alloys) and 7-8k(Wax). :(

I think I sold 5 tempering alloy at 12k each yesterday. Between doing writs on 3 max characters and farming resource nodes I really don't see the issue.

I think it's fine as it is.

    1. Get hirelings on all your characters.
    2. Make sure one of your characters has 3 skill points in refining.
    3. Refine all the mats your hirelings bring, on top of any mats you gather as you go along "playing the game"
    4. Do writs for the gold improvers as well as the maps which will give you more mats to refine
    5. Any gold tempers your hirelings bring you are a bonus (and yes, they do bring gold tempers).
    6. Don't stress too much about upgrading stuff to gold until you have actually tested out the build.

Everything about top end gear is costly, either in the amount of mats or the value of tempers.

When I maxed crafting and discovered that it costs 150 rubedite/rubedo per 160CP armor piece, I shook my head...it's 10x the materials needed for 150CP equipment.

It helps to warm up the economy. I loved when they incresead the amount of material to craft CP160, it's actually very healthy to the trade community.

The same reason V16 gear requires 10 times the materials to craft as V15. It's there to require a lot of extra effort to obtain so you can have the absolute best possible.

Originally the idea was crafting would be a direct path to the best possible items in the game without having to resort to dealing with RNG, or hoping for just the right drop. You could pick from the best sets in the game, get the trait you want, and even have the style you wanted. You just needed to grind to get the best possible items out of it. Like how a dungeon runner would need to attempt the same content repeatedly to get a (basically) equivalent item in the right trait.

Originally, gear level wasn't even supposed to be the hard part. Back when the level cap was V10, actually making the final tier of gear was easy, getting it to gold for that last little bit of bragging rights was the hard part. This remained unchanged until the level cap went from V14 to V16. With the IC, they changed the final tier of gear to ALSO be ridiculously hard to obtain or craft. They've gradually eased off of that, making the Tier 10 mats easier to obtain, but having V16 gear is still a bit of an achievement for a player coming up through the ranks. Having gold gear is meant to require a significant investment.

This is how the game justifies letting us upgrade our gear to higher qualities, and the robust crafting system. You can make anything you want, without being subjected to the RNG like you would in most MMOs... but it's going to cost you a bit.
