Dear ZOS, please add transmogs!

It would be really cool if a master armorer could change the style of any item into another style they have unlocked (=transmogrify items). I have a feeling that this wouldn't be too hard to implement in the game, since the owners of the Imperial edition/upgrade can already change the appearance of any gear item into one in the Imperial style.
This would be particularly useful for those people who may not like the look of some gear pieces that can only be obtained as loot, e.g. monster sets, or more in general pieces that do not match the look/appearance of other set items you have.
Transmogs would add an awesome extra layer to the customization of our character looks!

This has been brought up before. I imagine it's only a matter of time before its implemented into crown store.

Well, transmogs should be be something that can be done by any master crafter, without the need to spend real money in the crown store, that would really suck to be honest. Games like Diablo3 and Path of Exile give players the possibility to trasmog items for free.

I dont think theyll ever give us that as it would compromise costume sales. Especially now that they went to the trouble of making them dyeable.

Yes please, this is probably the one thing I really want. It would improve end game for me. It would give me a reason to run dungeons since I could just convert the reward to the style I want.

If the issue is costume sales, well then just sell say a pack of conversion scrolls or something that allow you to change any gears looks to a know motif. It would have to be cheap since every drop I would get I would convert to a different style.

I would also like to change the style of existing gear. One of the reasons I've put off upgrading my main's gear is because I want to incorporate a monster helm shoulder but I DON'T want to be using the model for that piece--it won't match the rest of what I have planned out aesthetically. :(

I want this because of only 2 pieces of armour. Helmet of Anguish and Encasement of Anguish. These items look exactly like the seducer costume but they have a 1 of a kind color on them. Even when you can dye costumes next dlc, you will not be able to replicate the color on these 2 items.

This is why i want transmog.

Well they could add it to both giving us the options. I @#$%ing despise the crown store but as long as master crafters can use a style material to change the look of the item I'll be content if it's only crown store I'll be extremely upset... like I am with the current plans for the insipid barbershop.

The monster sets, I really don't mind. But yeah, I wish we can change some looted sets in game.
No, you can craft any style you want to learn!

But you can't craft all the sets in the style that you want.

Many things in the crown store are available in the game for free, and are sold for real money only to those people who don't want to spend time leveling crafting skills or farm for certain items: potions, bag space, motifs, riding skills...
I don't see why transmogs should be any different, if somebody puts the time into leveling a craft then the option to transmog items should be available for free. Those who don't bother/don't have the time to level crafting should be given the option to buy transmog scrolls from the crown store.

Yes, I would definitely use this. My Imperial style gear is seriously outdated.

I have to agree that it'd probably be a Crown Store thing though, as they already made those Mimic Stones.

The problem with costumes is that they are all or nothing. You can switch out the legs on your costume.

It also seems silly to buy costumes that look the same as in game armor you can already acquire. Costumes should be unique.

No, you can craft any style you want to learn!

The point of the request is dropped set pieces. People want to get stats from drop sets without having to keep the appearance. I personally don't care what my gear looks like, but it is a reasonable request from those that do.

Well, since this topic, although older, appeared after the other one I've answered today, I'll just copy and paste

As much as I could say this is an interesting idea, as a "lore" defender (quoted because it's not exactly lore), I wouldn't like to have it and the reason is the weird concept of style materials.

Because of them, sounds unreal to have something that was shaped by a style material, changed to something else.

Consider just the ones that do make sense for the crafting purpose, like an Obsidian (Dunmer) and and Corundum (Nord). They're both minerals of some sort, theoretically they're melted with the iron during the iron casting process, giving it some "special property" (inexistent in the game, I have to say)

Makes sense as in "imbuing" something with a distinct characteristic, but it doesn't fit as THE thing designed to style a piece of armor. Cultures and traditions are much more realistic and if we didn't have the style materials -OR- if they weren't the biggest decisive factor, transmutation could coexist with the crafting system because you would be taking a piece of shaped metal (or leather, linen, wood..) and would reshape it to follow a different culture.

It wouldn't break the lore because your gear would not be legitimately crafted as one specific style, but it would be inspired by a different culture.

If Sherlock Holmes had it inpected, he could say by looking that it was originally made for one Culture and then remodeled to another. That the job was really well done, but small traces of the past could be noticed here and there.

But, here, quantity seems to be more important than quality so, meh...

And just to be clear my point is only against the style materials. Motif ARE very needed.
I am the very model of a scientist Salarian, I've studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian.
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology).
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian.

I can craft almost any style I want, but when a new motif drops that I REALLY like I shouldn't have to expect to re-craft every single item I have. The entire concept of changing an item's look could fit in completely with Elder Scrolls' Alteration line of magic. Not only that, in fits in with established lore. In Skyrim transmutation had a spell that could modify ore types. It would fit in with the game easily.
