"Improved" Token System Idea

Here is the idea I had to improve the loot system.

Make a token system (here me out, I know it's controversial) with specific tokens that could be made tradable with professions.

Dungeons and trials and stuff now drop tokens randomly (so you keep a certain RNG) for the different type of gear. An NPC sells all the gear, gear is either BoP or BoA.

Light Armor token, Medium Armor token, Metal weapons token, Wooden weapons token, etc, etc. You get the idea.

Professions could bundle up a certain amount of tokens (50, 100, 250) for a crafting mats cost and those bundle could be sold in guild stores.

So you get a less random loot system that actually helps the economy. Same thing could be done with AP and PvP gear.

So tell me if it's a good idea and how would you improve it?

I don't think the majority of people want instant gear . Some people will always complain, that's for sure, but I think what people actually want is a system where you KNOW you are working towards something however long it takes.

Example: Running vMSA 30 times in HOPE to get the weapon you want is annoying. Running vMSA 30 times to get the amount of tokens to buy the exact weapon you want .... is LESS annoying haha.

As much as RNG tends to hate me majority of the time I honestly prefer it the way it is now no matter how long it takes because it makes the item that much more valuable to me. It's just too bad not everyone feels that way...

Honestly if you DO take that away what kind of endgame do you have left? It'd be all PvP or doing trials and stuff for fun which not everyone seems to consider valid endgame...

I don't get your point. The tokens I am talking about drop exactly where the gear drops right now... For actual content, this changes nothing lol ?

My point is the seeming impossibility of ever getting what you're shooting for is what keeps you trying. When you have nothing left to try for what is left? A token system of any sort is still a shortcut to that, even if only a small one.

Well, we have different opinions I guess, because the idea of maybe never getting lucky and completing my set makes me want to play less, not more...

Luck shouldn't be the main system in a game, this isn't a casino. I guess it's a good system for people with gambling/addictive personnalities.

Then there are some games out there you absolutely want to stay away from lol

I've played games where a luck stat entirely ruled your loot gains. Without luck you'd get junk always.

You don't find ridiculous the stories you read here where people have been running vMSA 50-60 and more times and still don't have their weapons ? Or opening hundreds and hundreds of gold keys and not getting the Armor they want ? I find it completely ridiculous and borderline insulting from the devs that thought this would be "fun"...

What ? You know general MMO mechanics don't have copyrights ? Or no game except like... Ultims online or some other game would have a spellbar, a chat box, an inventory screen.....

    Your comment makes no sense.

    I'm kinda agree.
For example, they could remove all set items from loot tables in vWGT/vICP, but leave shackles/embers. When you get 150 tokens, you can buy 1 item of your choice with a desired trait.
And apply this system to all dungeons.

Oh, just leave monster helmets in the drop table. Or make it cost twice the amount of tokens. Come on, Zeni.
