IMO dks have alot of strengths that get overshadowed by things like dragon blood, one thing that im very thankful for is some of the new sets coming with this next dlc( things like the extra 400 spell dmg on fire attacks and the syrrabane set). Now to say dks are in a good place in downright embarrassing, yes there are alot of group oriented skills that synnergize really well but group pvp isn't the end all be all. That being said good on you for rolling one. Here's my suggestions:
1. Dark elf, no question: Health is obtainable so easy in this game that the 9% magica and 6 percent stamina is somethings that helps a magica dk intensely, and then obviously 7 percent flame dmg is nothing to sleep over.
2. I have tried it all but kags is just too good, I've recently made the switch to heavy and am loving it so i would recommend starting there
3. Regen: Damage is great and the name of the game, but dont be afraid to run recovery over spell damage on your glyphs.
4. Secondary sets: now obviously running 2 5 piece sets and a 2 piece isnt too popular right now due to the lack of secondary sets( that is until next patch) here are some good secondary sets
- Willpower: great set for damage and wiggle room to sneak in recovery through glyphs
- Trasmutation: Awesome set for recovery but beware of magica loss, that max magica goes a long way
- Moster sets: this is more of a personal thing, things like bloodspawn, engine, and other monster sets are great but they too take away from stats that are achieved through other sets, personally i've been running 3 torugs 1 kena over 2 torugs 2 bloodspawn, and finding it quite nice.
5. Stamina: Dks love to block, and don't be afraid too, but it will take some getting use to in order to properly sustain
6. This is the most important of all, be ready to fail, Dks are great and if executed correctly can be a lethal force in pvp, but it is a different style of gameplay and too be honest take more skill, so accept your failures and learn from them, because this will not be an easy change.'
Good luck and may the way of the dragon guide you, also wear a goblin costume, with how slow dks move it makes me feel faster

bixy op
So I've reached a point in playing eso that I'd like a challenge. I've always been told magDK is the hardest thing to play. So I'm accepting this challenge. I've read that the ideal races come between High Elf and Dark Elf.
Which one should I go with? Any advice is much appreciated. Also what are some of yalls gear setups? Would like to get an idea of what's out there and go from there on my own build/playstyle

I appreciate all the insight. I'll be leveling a dark elf. Keep posting advice and build ideas if you have any. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get it leveled up

Once you find a build you like its as simple as buying those race change tokens, comparing your stats, dueling a bit, then changing. Also, don't be so quick to toss away Breton, cost reduction is far better than regen when it comes to a Dragonknight especially if you're going to be in heavy armour, the only issue is that Breton is the lowest in terms of damage compared to Dunmers and Altmers due to having no Element Damage passive.
Has anyone tried seducer?

By in large, Doges is correct.
However, DK was by far the best design class in terms of ability functions and synergy. For the most part, this is still readily apparent today despite so many changes to core mechanics.
RE: race choices. 7% fire dmg is just too good. Dunmer is the clear choice. Altmer a close second. Breton third. Imperial a close fourth because DK benefits from health and stam, even when magicka specced.
RE: gearing. I have basically tried everything mentioned in this thread. I have played extensively with heavy armor. I think LA is clearly much stronger without the Bracing passive. Five pieces of heavy gets you 200dmg, 8% healing, 10% HP, 5k armor, and ~450 regen. Five pieces of light gives you 20% regen, 15% cost redux, 5k pen, and 10% critical. Not even really close, TBH.
