Is race change for crown only pay to win?

With so many changes to racial passives, some races are changing in strength.

Previously, crown store was only for aesthetic things. But race change is FAR from only aesthetic. It's a very strong endgame choice that directly affects your efficiency as a player.

2 players in a PvP match, with equal skill and gear, only race will make the difference.

Is race change for crown only pay to win?

Kind of, but not really.

I'd say more pay for convenience because you can always just reroll, or spend money and just buy a race change.

There is nothing specifically locked behind a paywall.

While the races are not perfectly balanced, there is not one that's so good that it is th only competitive race. People can be successful with any race they choose, without paying a red cent.

If they offered one race that was more powerful than the others, and it was only available in the crown store, that would be Pay-to-Win. This is not.

Personality is rather no have race change at all. Players should level up a new character if they want something different.

With that, to have race chsnge available it can only be provided via the cash shop. There is no means in game to appropriately provide this.

Granted, people will complain. After all some complain that the crafting bag is P2W which is most laughable.

Oh, and the changes to racial passives are minor. Very minor.

Agreed. I'm 12 / 12 with all Level 50. I can go from Level 1 to Level 50 in one sitting. And that one sitting isn't all day, either.

Making a new character with the desired race - Time consuming, but free

Changing your current character to the desired race - Not free, but convenient

As far as I can see, this is no different from buying food/potions or mount upgrades from the store. You can do it ingame, it just takes longer.

I'm neither for or against this, just an observation.

1) You keep your gear and achievements, etc... and get an immediate result by changing your race to min/max

2) You just reroll and while it takes you two months longer eventually you're at the exact same power level it just took longer.

It's nothing more than a speed up for the lazy.

i dont know where you live or how much you get paid, but look at me, i can work 8 hours minimum wage and cover eso+ for 6 months.. thats acces+ crowns..
say i need a race change? i am damn sure it will take me more than 8 hours.. i grab my credit card and use the best skill in the world "credit card skill" and summon the almighty race change tokens and change my race in 5 minutes
totally worth it if you ask me
pay to win is like pay 10000 crowns and win 10k extra DPS or 20k extra heals
not many players around, zos needs profits as a company and since PvP is not attractive to bring players, crown store shall be the resource for current players

The answer to that is simple - you can achieve the same effect by simply starting a new character (or replace one of your existing ones) with the new race. You do not have to change race with the convenience tool, which is the race change token. So, NO; it is not pay to win.

Only if they changed racial passives every other week, such that you'd have to buy race changes to keep making a FOTM build.

Pay for convenience. With removal of vet ranks and new training gear, rerolling is easy to do. But buying a race change saves me the week to grind level & skills to 50 and hunting sky shards/lore books.

Nah.

They made leveling up new characters quite a bit easier. (skills seem to level up slower though.)

So its kinda like horse upgrades tbh, you can either get instant progress now or spend 10 days to get the same amount the normal way.
