✭I don't think its actually any more rare than any of the other flowers, but given that it shares those nodes with 8 (?) other flower types, combined with the fact that it's new and so people might stop at a node to grab a nightshade when they'd ignore the node if it was one of the other flowers, it just seems more rare.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭I find Nightshade quite often. There is a place I go to farm Nirnroot. It has several other nodes in close proximity. One of the Nodes seems to toggle between Nightshade and some other flower, with the Night Shade spawn about 50% of the time. The other flower nodes don't seem offer up Nightshade as often, if ever.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

✭All of the flowers come in cycles. By that I mean that one flower type will suddenly be all that you see in alchemy nodes around you, so you'll find 3-5 nodes in a row of the same flower type. But yes, I'm pretty certain that Nightshade shares the same very low drop rate as Columbine. Heck, the algorithm may even roll up the choice of one or the other first, and then roll a 50/50 shot of which one of those two you'll get. They are VERY rare. Butterfly wings are rarer though. Stupid rare.
PS... Don't ever count Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth in amongst standard alchemy nodes. They are static spawns that ALWAYS occur in the exact same places every time. They're on set timers. I'm pretty sure that Water Hyacinth is on a 5 minute spawn timer, and Nirnroot is on a 15 minute spawn timer, give or take a little possibly to appear to be random.

ContraTempo✭✭✭✭I have noticed that some areas seem to be limited to a specific class of reagents. Obvious ones are Water Hyacinth and Nirnroot at the edge of water, and mushrooms in caves. Some seem to be more common in fields, i.e. the more weedy types like wormwood and columbine.
I don't know if it's actually a thing of not, but most of the nightshade I have found has been on the edge of fields in partial shade. Maybe just coincidence, but that is what I have seen.ContraTempo

✭✭✭I am generally unlucky but have not found Nightshade to be scarce. Sure RNGeebus holds its fate in his hands but spend enough time in The Hollow City and you'll find plenty It's just as random as any other flower.
