TES 6 & ESO

Looks like TES 6 will be several years about -- 2020 or later. I have mixed emotions about that. On one paw, I am glad that TES 6 is far away because it means I have more time in ESO. The only game that can really get me away from ESO is TES 6. On the other paw, TES 6 will be fun to play. Like the old saying, " Good things come to those who can wait."

There is Skyrim Remaster too but I played Skyrim to death so that is not as exciting as it could be. I have over 3,000 hours in Skyrim, only left for me to do in the game are mods. I have over 4,000 hours in ESO thus far, but new content all the time it remains fresh. In fact, I can not keep up with all the new content coming out all the time.

Here is a video that talks about TES 6 and what we know thus far:

Guess we have to wait for another 6 years to find out who won the Civil War and if the Dawnguard story took place during a Dragon Break

Meh. TES6 will be here when it here.

I'll put 4000+ hours into it just like I did all the TES games before it, but I'm an MMO kid at heart. While I'll spend inordinate amounts of time in TES6, it still won't take me away from ESO.

When I said "take away" I meant a break from ESO, I never took a break from ESO since beta and do not plan too either. TES 6 will "forced" me to take a break, that what I meant by saying "taking away from ESO."

Keep in mind the 2020 date is an approximation from the commentator, not the devs themselves... so we don't really have even an approximate release time.

Which is pretty typical of Bethesda. They were extremely close-mouthed in the years-long lead-up to Skyrim. Then, BAM, the year it was set to come out, they finally started revealing all the juicy details. That's just want Bethesda does... they like to make sure they have something solid to show off before they start talking about it. No promised release dates means they can take their time to make sure it's a quality experience, no matter how long it takes. :)

So let us content ourselves with ESO while we wait. That's more than we had to occupy us between the other TES games!

Well, Skyrim remastered - i am not fond of that - it will nót be able to run SKSE for long and maybe never SkyUI and all the mods, which rely on SkyUI and SKSE - why would I change from my very well working "old" highly modded Skyrim to a version, where I do not even like the graphics I have seen - suddenly a nordic country has a "sunny" yellowish brown tint?- Are you kidding me? That does not look anything like scandinavia, the old Skyrim got the lighting right, the new one doesn't.

Personal when I heard the news I was very upset I want TES 6 soon or at least a new elder scrolls game soon.I can see why their not working on it I doubt they will want it severely hinder this game population and have it lose its player base for a few months because of TES6.

Pete Hines has warned everyone that Todd's team is working on two other projects first that are Skyrim/Fallout sized.

Going off that statement, 2020 is impossible and anything before 2025 is severely optimistic, IMO.

Frankly, I think ES6 will arrive on platforms that are either still immature, like VR or something beyond that.

What was lost in all of this is that Fallout4 is, effectively, the last Fallout game from Howard's team.

Not to be argumentative or anything, but isn't it sort of a meme that Elder Scrolls games come out with bugs anyway? Even with all this careful planning and time their games (only from reputation, I have never played one) have this stigma of being buggy...

Just a weird observation I'm making I guess, nothing more, nothing less.

On the fact that Howard's team has two full-size, new IPs forthcoming AND an eventual ES6. Seeing as those 3 games take Howard and his team well into the next decade and nearing 60/retirement, I'd say it's a fair assumption that he's done with Fallout. Of course, this doesn't preclude Bethesda from handing off the series to another dev team.

True, but they managed to get fallout 4 out with a relatively low amount of bugs - but Skyrim for example was a mess, when it came out - it required a couple of patches to be fluently playable. But they were so clever to release the creation kit with it, so that modders can fix all that stuff - if it would not be about the modding community, these games would not be as popular as they are.

    Yep. XD

However, the reason they're buggy is because they tend to be packed with so much stuff. Bethesda's greatest talent is in creating massive, open world environments where you can create whatever character you want, then just go and do whatever you want. You see a mountain? You can climb it. Want to spend all your time punching bears for fun? Yep, go ahead. You see silverware set on the table, and want to steal it and fence it? Easy peasy. Want to slaughter an entire village and then decorate it with the corpses of the people you slaughtered? Yep, that's possible too. TES and Fallout games are giant sandboxes that put focus on exploration and immersion, and because of that, yeah, there will be bugs. There's just too much in a TES game for one team to catch. You basically learn to overlook and forgive the bugs, because there is so much awesome to make up for it. :)

I highly recommend you find one of these games to play. You should be able to find Skyrim pretty cheap at this point... or you could always go for one of the oldies-but-goodies, like Morrowind. Or if you prefer Sci Fi, grab one of the Bethesda Fallout games... they're pretty similar in what the experience is like, even if the settings are vastly different.

The biggest bonus to running the new Skyrim for PC is 64 bit. This opens a lot of room for scripted mods and other things. The big thing I'm curious about is, since this is remastered and 64 bit client, is it going to have DX 12 support. if it does that alone is going to change the way you look at mods for Skyrim on PC.

This last DLC I believe is the last one for Fallout. If that's the case then they will follow their normal routine and downgrade to a skeleton crew that puts bug patches out for Fallout for the next year. The rest of the team will move to the next project. Pete Hines made it sound that they have already started work on the next two projects they are doing at the same time. That is more than likely where they are going to put the people they had on Fallout. But I do know they have already started hiring for programmers and such to start work on the new engine for TES 6. They always build new engines for each TES game. So look for news on a new engine being developed by Bethesda to know that they have started working on TES 6.
