Do you like the sacraments?

I know PC has had the DB update for some time and probably don't even bother anymore but for those of us on console, how do you like them?

I look forward to doing them each day, I think about taking my time and executing stealth tactics flawlessly. However, very rarely does this actually happen. I've scored perfect on 1 so far and have done maybe 8 total. Still learning the rooms, rotations, and secret spots.

That 1 minor mistake though, screws you royally... They become frustrating. A friend was comparing them to the thieves guild missions that I assume are similar in design (haven't got that far In TG.)

Do you guys get the perfect score each time? Opinions? Can they be better?

Boring and repetitive. I'm usually quite used to grindy, monotonous quests, but the stealing and murdering (specific) dailies in the last 2 DLCs have been pushing it. The overworld/ dungeon dailies aren't bad.

The rewards hardly differ no matter the score, btw. At least as far as I've seen. Did three or so painstakingly perfect, then realized running through and killing everybody was both easier and faster.

I really like them. I try to finish it as fast as I can while still complaining all the objectives and I make Speaker Terenus proud
I'm still trying to get my last 4 targets for the achievement, though.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I wish I could just kill the rest 5 dudes for the achievement and forget this boring and repetitive torture called the black sacrament.

I've noticed the rewards are crap after my first 1 I didn't screw up on, once I saw a blue I lost a little hope. I realize purple bags might have been to gracious or whatever.

Not playing the TG yet I'm not burnt out and it's new but I can see sacraments getting old really fast.

They grow old VERY fast. The sacraments are even worse than heists because there are only 3 maps IIRC. The design of each one is pretty good, I must admit. Took me a while to discover all the hidden passages, rooms and shortcuts that make your life so much easier. But right now the only reason I'm doing them is to get the last 3 victims I need for Blackest Sacrament.

Maybe they should consider sending you out to humanoid-inhabited delves for stealthy theft/assassination jobs. That would add a lot more possible locations and give you a reason to revisit delves.

I like them except the timer for exiting. I can flawlessly do everything else, but making it back out in time, without alerting, etc? Nope.

No the stealth mechanics in this game is terrible and the only real way to assassinate someone in one hit is with the blade of woe, No head shots from bow and arrow no one hit kills with a stab in the back with an ax. To top it off with the Thieves guild heist getting time taken away because you use the blade of woe is bull crap. The guards with the stupid lamps is one of the worst mechanics they added, they break stealth, invisibility, and the ring is large enough to cover a corridor making it more a pain in the ass than a actual challenge.

I don't care for them. They're both boring and repetitive, (like the worst parts of my job) and not at all enjoyable. I DoD a handful of them to get my ranking high enough to complete the DB questline, a few got the top reward. I got the Bane of Gold Coast achievement on one character, and will probably never do another sacrament.

I really love the heists from the the thieves guild and was very excited for the assassin's version of them when dB came out only to be very disappointed.

I can't stand that they are basically a 1 shot deal for 24hrs. Even if we drop the quest, all the penalties stand for our next try at it. It makes no sense to let us drop the quest if it doesn't reset everything like the heists. It's basically allowing us to screw up even further. At least the thieves guild heists let us try again.

I'm also pretty sure that when the Dark brotherhood style motif is released, completing the sacraments is how we'll get them.

    I like them.

they are an improvement on Heists from the Thieves Guild DLC.

having an "escape" timer start when you complete the main objective instead of having to rush through all the objectives is much more enjoyable.

I can play patiently and stealthy to complete the objectives, but then I have to rush to get away. that's how heists should be as well.

the environments are repetitive, though. need more variety.

I like them a lot, but I'd like to see a little more variety. Hopefully ZOS adds new maps and conditions in the future.

For example, send us to some instanced manors or city districts. It seems strange how many of this sacraments and heists send us into caves and crypts.

Make some sacrament targets outlaws and wipe out the "trespassing" conditions for this jobs.
Make some heist targets upstanding citizens and make even entering their area "trespassing".
Allow some sacraments to have extra bonus objectives instead of it always being a time/witness-based thing.
(Not sure how you could do that with heists without either changing the system entirely or making them too easy.)

They should have repurposed the existing delves, rather than the few maps.

While it is good to have secret areas not show on the map until you get there, they should also stay on the map when you walk out. Finding an unmapped shortcut into the area is good, but then you are stuck trying to find it again on your way out.

I swear I suspect they programmed the cannon fodder to 'randomly' turn around when the Woe prompt appears. The timing of me closing in on a npc and the npc moving at that instant has happened WAY TOO OFTEN for simple chance. The pattern of a target moving out of one guard sight just as another guard approaches is too often to be coincidental as well.

The Woe needs to activate more quickly upon pressing the synergy. If they are going to have a three microsecond window of stealth then the blade must activate immediately. No more delays.

At times I feel they wanted to make it not possible to complete, such as when the target moves from being in sight of three merchants to sitting against the back wall of their tent.

Agreed on all accounts. I stopped doing the TG heists as soon as I completed the achievement and motif, but the DB sacraments are an improvement - at least, the timer now is only to escape so I have more time to plan my way out before completing the final objective.

I am currently missing 3 Blackest Sacrament targets (Steidor, Abizzaka, Alard Cerone) and since it's so repetitive I'll probably take a break from sacraments soon - only taking the quest if the target is one of the NPCs I need to eliminate. The rewards are really... unrewarding: the difference between a poor run and a perfect one is a piece of green Sithis gear, instead of blue.

I find the Sacraments much more friendly than Heists. I love them both, but I am confident there's a reason the motifs from Heists are rarer and more valuable than the ones from Sacraments. The ability to scout and hit all secondary objectives without worrying about the timer is a HUGE plus.

Sacraments are great, and I love doing them: just sneaking around, patiently waiting to move unseen through guards and witnesses before going in for the kill...

Nothing like that feeling when you sent a soul to our Dread Father...

    Though there's room for improvement:

    - getting Dark Brotherhood motif pages (prob next update or so)
    - maybe make them more immersive? Instead of a port to an instance, have locations throughout the world where you can travel to and infiltrate them like during the first DB mission

Meh, I find there really isn't that much of a difference between Heists and the Black Sacraments.
The timer to escape from Black Sacraments can be somewhat annoying but apart from my 1st Sacrament, I've gotten a perfect run on each, even without knowing shortcuts.

It's something different to do though until I get bored with them.

I like them a lot, but I have no reason to do them because the rewards are terrible.

Similarly, I did the heists to get the new motifs, but after that, they aren't worth doing. I think if any of the dailies had a chance for consumable items that you need more frequently the whole thing would be more worthwhile.

They're still relatively fresh for me so I'm not bored with them or anything, I love the designs of them and how many different spaces I can crawl on, and I love the little secret passageways. Once you find them I'm sure they get a little monotonous, but for now it's quite neat!

I'd agree. I'm still rather new to them and it's enjoyable. Running a 2nd character through DB questline now. Id love to see the rewards vary, just crapoy sets is rather unfortunate.

I enjoy them. It's a good little break from running around the world doing other stuff. And they're a lot better than the TG Heists. The 0/5 alerts is a lot easier to manage than the -1min on the Heist timer

(I've started doing Heists again though, went off them for a long time and I'm back)

I completed my 5th perfect run last night to get that achievement, so we'll see how much longer I stick to them now that that's done. That's when I went off the Heists, when I had all the relevant achievements.

They were somewhat fun at first, but I've reached a point where unless my target is someone I haven't killed yet for the achievement I'm just not doing it that day. I only need 3 more guys and I'm done.

The problem is beyond that achievement there's zero incentive to play them or to even bother with the optional - you get a random piece of a garbage sithis touch set. Cool.

Heists had a similar problem with there being no incentive beyond the associated achievement but they remedied that with DB by adding a guaranteed motif drop if you hit the optional which is incredibly easy on all 5 maps once you've learned them and learned the guards patrol routes. So I have the complete TG motif and am selling them like hotcakes.

Hopefully with the next update they incentivize Sacraments the same way, seeing as there's a Dark Brotherhood motif (all the sithis touch junk is this motif) that can't yet be crafted.
