Dungeon Finder: Opt out of tank/healer option?

Many players argue that the Trinity isn't needed for Group Dungeons that it is doable with 3 Damage Dealers and 1 Healer or 4 Damage Dealers. Others find it more difficult without at least a Tank holding bosses down, but may not necessary need a dedicated Healer. For players like that, there would be a checkbox option that allows you to Opt out of forming random groups without a Tank and/or Healer if you wanted; you would be paired up with other like-minded players who have the same selection as you. If you select opt out of Tank then your group will form with 3 Damage Dealers and 1 Healer who also have that option selected. If you opt out of having a Healer then it will form a group with 1 Tank and 3 Damage Dealers. If you opt out of both tank and healer then it forms a group of 4 Damage Dealers who have all selected the same option as you. If you leave it as default then you'll still get groups with 1 Tank, 1 Healer, and 2 Damage Dealers as normal.

As soon as activity finder goes "optional roles", we're into DCUO territory. That game serves as a cautionary tale as to what happens when you dilute class necessity in a trinity-based game. As well, the majority of people queuing via activity finder NEED proper support roles to complete the content. If you want super leet, hybrid runs, form your own groups. Simple.

The problem at the moment is that activity finder just doesn't work as well as it should (or at all).

Maybe beside choosing your role, you can also choose roles you need. If I don't need a tank, I can just sign up as dd and tick in the healer and dd needed boxes, and untick the tank needed box. But I guess ZOS will have to rewrite the whole code of group finder and I'm not sure if they're willing to.

This would only further lengthen the queues.

I think the opt out is manual group only as that's a best practice for such things.

I agree as Group Tool would then need to have a more complex sort and search check internally to match player and instances for dungeons. It would probably just add time in cueing and player will leave before they will get into a dungeon which will increase both time waiting and servers work load.

The best way to solve this is to use chat (when possible) to create a pre-made group with the roles which player themself decide on which roles they want to play for that dungeon they will be going to (or change role/set up) when they have been moved into that instance.

It's already a "problem" or w/e you want to call it that people queue as damage-dealers not because they good at dealing damage but because they're not tanks or healers. Like-minded doesn't mean that they're actual geared or skilled enough to be able to pull it off.

It's a cool idea but it seem a lot of work for something that's fixed by a DD queuing as a Tank, giving you 3 dps and 1 healer.
