As another means of transportation throughout Tamriel.
Give all big ships in all main docks a captain who can take you to any other main dock in Tamriel.

Birdovic✭✭✭✭✭When I think about the many wayshrines we have, I doubt new transport systems would be used that much.
But from an RP Perspective, I clearly see some cool uses
- a captain transporting people
- a group of Adventurerers traveling together
- spawning at different docks, instead middle of a town etc.

Bonzodog01✭✭✭✭✭Most ships and boats parked up in the docks already have a set destination that they can take you to. Once you unlock Gold and Silver, for example, the two ships in Daggerfall docks (the highly lootable ones) will take you to Vulkhel guard and Davons Watch respectively. There is a boat in Windhelm that will take you to Hews Bane. Very true, but you have to look at it from the point of view of a new player, that has never been to any place other than their own starter island. And yes I just forgot about Tamriel One allowing to travel to any zone, my bad.
Keeping that in mind, yeah it's a interesting idea.
Maybe allowing 1 dock in each zone have connections to 1 dock in each alliance zone, like
(AD) Auridon Dock:
- Vulkhel Guard or Skywatch
Allows travel to
(DC) Glenumbra Dock: Daggerfall
(EP) Stonefalls Dock: Ebonheart or Davon Watch
And the same pattern goes for every single Zone.
Another interesting RP Idea:
