Is the game better/worse with all the mobs scaling to your character?

And what's the point of leveling/doing quests now if everything just scales to you anyways?

The point is to have fun playing the game. If you don't have fun leveling up, spending your character and skill points, doing quests, collecting loot, doing dungeons, etc, you should take a good look at the reasons you are still here.

It's better. I'd assume it's still advised to complete your area's main quest lines.

I find that I have way more fun when I don't pay attention to the level of the quests I am doing, or what others are doing around me and just do what I find interesting!

Chasing "numbers" (xp/gold/skill points) makes the game seem even more grind-y then it already is at times.

Take is slow and enjoy the game, and before you know it, you will be in the "Capped CP Club".

I tend to outlevel zones even before the new training trait, with the new scaling once you leave the starter island(s) the quests you pick up on the mainland won't start at green or gray anymore, you can do them whenever or skip ahead and return later on. Quest skipping might be more lucrative as doing them at a higher level or CP gives more experience, higher quality rewards, and more gold. You can also just skip Coldharbour completely getting to 50 wherever you please and everything just becomes CP scaled immediately after. Just do the base quests that lead up to the bonus 3 skill points in each zone then move on, come back later when you're level 50 to use those experience points for your CP grind.

    Why are you leveling/doing quests?

If you are doing it for game completion and would prefer to simply walk in and feel they are just holding you up, then having everything at your level would be annoying. If I have to go back and complete quests I missed for completion or a few extra skill points, I would rather them be at my level and offer some sort of a challenge.

I am leveling my 5th character right now and just having fun doing it, the levels just fly past when you just do all the quests and story line without worrying about anything else.

It is even more fun than the first couple of times because I now have a fully skilled master crafter and plenty of gold. So I do not need to worry about chasing gold, weapons, armour or worry about running out of gems, food or potions.

While I like the idea of being able to do quests in any order, I’m not sure I really like the idea of DLC/Cyrodil style ‘battle-leveling’ applying everywhere.

The problem I see with everything scaling is that how difficult things are is all decided by the game and will always be about the same, there is no ‘this is too frustrating for me, I’ll level up a little and come back later’ or ‘this is a walk in the park for me, I’ll move on to a harder zone to challenge myself’. As things are currently, I experience both of those kinds of moments while facing things that are supposedly the same level as my character. And as things are currently I can choose where to play to suit my personal capabilities and those of a particular character’s build. If everything scaled the same no matter where I went or when I faced it, there could end up being some content I’d probably never get a chance to complete because it would always be balanced too hard no matter my level, or I may find that while playing certain characters I never really find a challenge because they do have an optimal build.

They can’t balance the game for all players at the same time - for players of all levels of gaming experience, for players who always play with friends vs. prefer playing solo, etc. Having varying levels of difficulty in different zones gives players more control over the difficulty of what they are facing, thus allowing more people to find an optimal combat experience.

Tamriel One, It is better and worse.

    It's better:
Can group up with whoever with no more restrictions.
Can make a character in any nation and play with any player from any nation.
Quests are more organic, don't have to be done in certain order, it's jarring when you get a quest and it is super hard or or super easy.
Everything will be accessible by default minus veteran content.

    It's worse:
Progression will feel the same from level 1-50 and on because it won't require x power or x level.
The nation war won't make as much sense since you can ally with the enemy.
Questing will be worse in a certain way because there is no more rites of passages.(No barrier to be too weak for in the initial outings)
Everything will be accessible by default minus veteran content.

With the introduction of Account wide champion, Tamriel One, Race Changes, Barber, etc. This mmorpg is becoming more like a traditional modern mmo similar to a WoW, Guild Wars 2, etc. It's the best news ever if you are a casually playing mmo hopper but like the Elder Scrolls Universe. And not so good if you are one of the people who like immersive mmos with permanence and the Elder Scrolls Universe. Not saying one way is worse than the other but the change is happening.

It's either make everything super streamlined and accessible to draw in the largest amount of players in short sessions or make everything pretty grindy and permanent to draw in less players but hold them over longer durations.

I think the first option brings the most money so the second is slowly getting ousted.

The point is doing quests. It's always been a narrative-driven Series, and now is so with ESO.

    Just some points with scaling:
    - You will not out-level a zone
    - You will not be under-leveled for a zone
    - You will be able to help friends of any level with content
    - Achievements (e.g. monster trophies) will be significantly easier to obtain.

Finally, we'll say it again; leveling in ESO is just not about your level. You're forgetting three very important factors: attribute points, skill points, and champion points.

It's not just about your character's level. It might be in other MMOs, but it's not in ESO, the sooner the general player-base realises this the better.

If you're asking 'what's the point' ESO might not be the MMO for you. Which is perfectly reasonable, it's impossible for one MMO to be what everyone is looking for.

I think it's better now that most of the dolmen are scaled up to CP 160. It used to be fairly easy to take on any of the dolmen by yourself. It's still doable, but now it's a bit more challenging to take it on yourself, especially when the boss of the dolmen is at CP160, especially that Harvester and Lich boss.

This. I am sad at the loss of my ability to adjust the level of challenge.

This is my concern. For my tank, this game is a walk in the park, so she can handle zones that are a few levels up. My healer, however, sometimes struggles with at-level content, and so when that happens, I leave and come back after she's gained a few more. As a mostly solo player, control over the difficulty of content is extremely important to how I play.

With One Tamriel, "Come back later" will no longer be an option that means anything, except you'll maybe have slightly better gear. That's my biggest concern. :/
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

worse. I think it tends too force players to assume everything will be easier. No threatening situations, etc. This causes people to brain afk, and loose their minds if they die
