Is enchanting a new gold sink?

So the changes to enchanting make it easier to get to enchanting 50. That's fair enough, I did it the hard way twice, but it's better for new players.
But the level 160 potency runes cost a disproportionate amount from the vendors and the drop rates are terrible. I did 3 enchanting surveys in wrothgar in the past 2 days and got not one potency rune. That's 18 double gathering nodes and not one potency rune, level 160 or otherwise.
It's the same when I go gathering. Never get any potency runes.
It was claimed you would get them in a third of nodes, I'd say it's less than 10% in my experience. Even those have been 150 level.
Am I just unlucky, or is this a new stealth gold sink?

Damianos✭✭✭✭I spent 6 hours farming in Hew's Bane for materials to craft some cp160 gear. In that time I harvested several rune nodes. In six hours, I got 3 potency runes. I brake for all rune nodes, but only 3 potency runes says to me that one in 3 is not the case. Of those 3 potency runes, none were the cp160 ones. My enchanting has been capped for two years. It is so much more difficult to get potency runes now.0 -

Imryll✭✭✭✭✭It's not just level 160 potency rune stones that are scarce. It's potency rune stones in general. I'm finding a potency rune stone in perhaps one in five nodes, and those may or may not be usable by the farming character, much less the rune stone they actually want. I didn't get any potency rune stones in my latest survey, either (in Grahtwood on a level 23). If we're supposed to buy a large number of rune stones, I feel that creating/deconstructing need to give noticeably more inspiration--and I'm currently subscribing so I guess I'm already getting a bonus.
With double stones in each node, I think potency stones should occur in every three--even if that means sometimes not including one of the other stone types.Edited by Imryll on June 22, 2016 2:51PM0 -

✭✭✭✭✭You can get tons of Truly Superb white glyphs as drops from mobs in dungeons and trials and grind spots. Just decon them. I get a steady stream of Repora and Itade from that, even with characters that have no skill points invested in Enchanting.2 -

What? You only use lvl 150 potencies for writs.

✭Before I was able to craft my own CP150+ glyphs, I was buying a lot of CP160 glyphs from various guild stores (always below 200g/glyph) and deconstructing all. This way I got tens of reporas and others, which I kept to this day in bank, so now I can craft from these, or sell. Buying CP160 glyphs for decon is best way imho, it also drives the market and let others to make profit

SickDuck✭✭✭✭✭For a full set of v160 glyphs you need 11-14 potency runes. The price of those altogethet cost less than 2 Kuta or 2 Tempering Alloys.
The only reason someone would need tons of these runes constantly is to craft for someone else or for selling. Junipus✭✭✭✭✭One other alternative is seeing if the CP passive for better loot from chests works. Since things are so RNG it's impossible to tell if it affects nodes or not, but if you have the CP and aren't farming on a combat character it's always worth a try.

I warned people of this in the PTS when this was first announced. People rejoiced when ZOS said they were going to put the potency runes back into the nodes.

✭All the responses are ways to work around the issue. The fact remains that for max level crafters enchanting was nerfed. It's much better for levelling it up but, the solutions people suggest, were already possible before the changes.
So basically we went from farming nodes to farming mobs, that's crazy.0 -

Run through every delve in Hew's bane, Wrothgar, and Gold Coast. Loot crappy white enchants. Decon with maxed enchanting character with all passives. Get on average 10-15 repora.#SavePlayer10 -
moonio✭✭✭✭As an apprentice enchanter I feel that the economy needs to reward people who buy a lot of glyphs for deconstructing.
At the moment the only way I can afford glyphs is to sell high level potency runes, as these can be rare (they were before DB) it keeps the price high enough for me to run a viable business.

✭✭✭✭✭I have been treasure chest and anchor farming in gold zones which give plenty of Truly Superb glyphs, within a week I collected over 100+ Repora and Itade runes while trying to collect Trinimac, Briarheart, and Lich set pieces. You don't need DLC's or Cyrodiil to collect them anymore, they're available in the base game areas. Set weapons however don't show up if you're after those.0 -
