Basically, they lied to their players to get them to purchase something which was supposed to be "Limited" and or "special" only to turn around and offer it up as an enticement to new players or put it on the cash shop once the game went F2P.

Look at the history that is only one example.

Heres another:

ZOS stated at Release that the TG and DB would be released within the first 3 updates, and would be "free" expansions. Yet 2 years later they are selling them. And it's what? Update 16 now and we are just getting TG and DB?

I can do this all day.....

When has ZOS EVER done that? Hell their entire advertisement for the game is nothing but a Blatant lie about it's mechanics.

"Be who you want to be" "Complete freedom to make your character however you wish"

If being on rails is being who you want to be.. Sure. If being locked into classes is being able to make your character however you like... Sure.....

If they had told people, Limited skills, only 4 classes, And zoned areas your locked into until you complete certain quests (Even while leveling).... They wouldn't have sold half as many copies.... But hey at least they would have been being honest.

No, ZOE has done nothing but Lie to, and Cheat it's Player-base since it was launched.

Most of the changes came about as a result of the change in business model arising from the proposal to add a console version, which I believe has been good for the game in overall terms. I don't think they lied, I think they told it as they saw it at the time. As anyone who's been in business knows, situations change and you have to adapt to them, things don't always work out best the way you initially thought they would.

According to the back of the original box "Play as you like" was stated in relation to "Adventure alone or together with friends. The choice is yours to make." People knew perfectly well that there were a fixed number of classes (and races), but what gave added freedom of choice compared to many MMOs as indicated in the advertising was that you could equip any combination of weapon and armour sets for all the classes, each choice resulting in different skills. People also know that while it's always going to be possible with freedom of choice over such things for the average player to pick and choose at will and do so successfully, the hardcore min-maxer is always going to end up chasing the one or two most favoured combinations.

I'm not sure what point you're making about being locked into zones, even while leveling. Most MMOs have some form of zonal progression. in ESO you can advance through most zones freely although you may not survive.

If, however, there are people who genuinely believe that ZOS have done nothing but lied to them and cheated them since the game was launched then why on earth are those people still around? It's just part of the forum hysteria with very little of any real substance behind it or they'd be gone. Even a topic like this one is only about people not subscribing any more, they're still playing.

Changing business models mean changing things a bit yes, But when you offer the imperial Race and say "This will only be available and will be limited to Only people who buy the Imperial addition" or "Buy the explorers pack and get any race, Any faction!, Limited time only be one of the few to get this while you can!" "Other examples are: Unique pets, special map unlocks etc".

All of these ZOS did NOT have to include in their cash shop. They could have come up with other items and special things for new players etc. Instead, they spit in the faces of everyone who bought into their "Lies" about these products.

Let me give you an example. If a car salesman sells you a Limited edition only 200 made car, and you buy it, then later toyota decides.. You know what were going to mass produce these and sell them as one of our normal line models. Guess what? That's a lawsuit. Because in Business you don;t sell your customer a product under the impression it is something it isn't in order to get them to buy it.

That's called Fraud.

And while people turn their cheek at the digital industry concerning such, it doesn't change the fact that it is a dishonest ***, low integrity thing to do, and it is still "Fraud".

On your other question why are we still here? Well.. Mainly because we love the TES series and we have hope that one day ZOS will get their head out of their ass.

We post threads like this so that they can know (if they choose to look) what is going on and how their playerbase feels about their decisions.

And they got the *** sued out of them also. I do check my facts. But that's not the point, whether they can or did do something is irrelevant, the point was that ZOS are a lieing deceiving company with absolutely no integrity.

I was working for Dodge in the mid 90's until 2001 while the entire limited production fiasco went down. No lawsuit went anywhere. People can sue for anything - winning a suit is completely different.

It was deemed not Fraud - just like a lawsuit here would be.

4. Working for dodge as a general worker, I am not surprised you wouldn't know about what happens up in Corporate. So unless your the X VP for Dodge Or at the very least sit on the board or were their lawyer, you wouldn't hear anything or know anything.

As I stated earlier, unsubbed after hearing about Cheat Engine. Sub ran out yesterday. I received an email today, offering a month free if I resubbed as they can only offer this for a "week". I think they are desperate and are feeling the heat. Anyone else get a similar email?

I stopped my subscription after watching every large patch and DLC layer more bugs and problem on top of previous problems and bugs that were not solved or poorly patched.

I love the game, but ESO lacks balance between classes, between magicka and stamina DPS, between weapon options for each role... So much that needs fixing and back then it wasn't looking like it was coming and it still doesn't look like it is coming.

At the same time, PvP is painful to play not only because of Hacked Engines and exploits Zenimax knowingly implemented into the game, but also because the quality of the Cyrodiil Server /Servers clearly isn't the best, leading to considerable lag that can't really be fixed, at least not without considerable financial investment from a company that doesn't have the money to do it.

I canceled my ESO Plus this week. I could cite several specifics, but the central reason is that I feel disrespected as a customer.

I hope every subscriber follows suit and forces Zenimax to report the loss of ongoing revenue to its investors; it's pretty much the only way you'll see the management changes and priority shifts required to permanently address our always-growing list of issues.

I will happily renew next month when they make their game relaibly playable...and maybe apologize.

I am loving ESO more than I have in the past. Sure things have happened, but that happens to every MMORPG, not just ESO. I have been here since 2013 and will continue to sub and be here for a very long time. Only reason I let my sub lapse is because I couldn't afford it right now. I will be resubbing once I get paid on the 25th.

Keep it up. The only way to send a message to Big Money, and Corporate, is for their accountants to go.. Uh.. Our Revenue just dropped 40% this quarter.

Then the Tops start looking at why, and see that for the last several years people have been complaining about things, and then they will fix them.

When the money is rolling in, Corporate, doesn't care as they assume because money is coming in everything is Fine. When it stops coming in, Suddenly they are all on top of ***.

Problem with ESO, is, it may be to late for them to save it. It's gone on too long and the entire community, even die hard white knights, are turning against ZOS and ESO.

Because they are completely focusing on making SPORPG. The direction of the game is horrible the Development team has crumbled and the vision for the game is to suck 15 $ of a churning player base every quarter with Single player content. and build a cash shop to rake additional fast revenue of cosmetic garbage.

I think you underestimate the ESO crowd

I was shocked to see that, for all the opposition, many many people actually favoured a crown-store model over a subscription one. Even though that means many people will pay more than with a sub, and many will pay zero. It doesn't take very many people to make just enough money to keep the servers going. Look at all the abandoned MMOs out there that are still running nevertheless.

I said this a few pages back, but I'll say it again here...

Cancelling your subscription makes very little impact on a billing model designed to not require a subscription. You wanna make a dent; commit to not buying future DLC, boycott the Crown store, quit playing.

If you really want to be noticed; stop buying things so income goes down, and stop playing so population goes down.

Unsubscribing is a hollow gesture so long as you're still logging in everyday, and buying the DLC. You get to pretend to make a point, but in actuality you're still using and enjoying the product for what it is. And they shrug because you still buy stuff.
Their business model is designed to absorb such an impact.
