It does my head in tbh, the frequency with which these phrases are repeated. Argonian culture surely has more to it than erect/flaccid spines or moist/dry scales.
Not that I recall, on a side note argonians were ugly as hell in the single player games. They improved alot in skyrim, but they used to have reverse hinge legs and couldn't wear leg armor. I find they look the best in ESO, but the dialog is new to me. I lmao the first time I heard one say "stay moist."
The "reverse hind legs" thing is (in biology and anatomy) called "digitigrade" which means walking on the toes. Most mammals except humans do that, and it is the way cats and some reptiles walk IRL. On the other hand, walking with the heels on the ground gives better balance for many bipedals, so I don't stress too much about cats and lizards walking with "normal" legs in Skyrim and ESO.GM - Ghost Sea Trading Co - NA PC

Glad you provided a translation, left to my own devices I was leaning towards it meaning a fear of horses with monstrous feet
