I feel not offering crafting bags "for purchase" is disingenuous

@Tandor That was then and this is now. Also I would be hesitant to be knocking people who bought the DLCs, or all the mounts, motifs, numerous xp scrolls, pets, or costumes (or dare I say all of it), because they love this game just as you, the very idea that we are providing more to the community because we subscribe is utter hogwash, it is a steady stream of money for ESO sure, but don't pretend you get close to what some of these non-subscribers spend. Also your dollar is not better than anyone elses. And you're right there isn't anything in the crown store one "must" buy, but they wanted to, and by wanting to, they helped the game out, you don't get to dictate other people's wants, so get off your high horse and put down your Cheetos.

ESO wants you to subscribe. They are offering something to make you question whether you should or should not sub. I would say they are on the right path.

If ESO wanted me to subscribe every month, they NEVER should have released "Tamriel Unlimited". You may not have been playing long enough to remember this, but originally ESO could be played ONLY by subscribing!

I was happy paying a subscription fee, and so were a lot of other people, but then we got conned into purchasing DLC instead. Now ZOS is reneging on the DLC concept and attempting to double dip players' wallets with the crafting bag. I, for one, will NEVER allow my wallet to be double dipped!

Until ZOS makes the crafting bag purchasable as a DLC, I simply refuse to support it.

So was I, and guess what? I'm still happily paying a subscription and for me nothing has changed. If you stopped subscribing then of course the game changed with TU, but otherwise it's just the same. No-one conned you into buying DLCs or anything else, you had the option of staying as you were. There's absolutely nothing in the Crown Store that subscribers must buy, and if there's something they want to buy they get 1500 crowns per month with which to do so. The only real difference to subscribers post-TU is that if they stop subscribing for any reason they still get to play the base game whereas pre-TU they would only have made it as far as the login screen.

That's great for you, but there was no information available when TU launched that indicated your choice was the correct one... you just got lucky. If I had KNOWN they were going to try to double dip on crap like this, I would have simply continued subbing like you did. To go back to subbing NOW, however, would turn me into a chump, because I've ALREADY PAID for the whole game via DLC. I am not a chump, and I refuse to be strong-armed back into a subscription unless ZOS refunds every single DLC purchase I have ever made!

If they do another crown sale, how much would all the DLC cost? About $41.45, assuming 40% off of $40 per 5500 crowns.

I made no comparison between different spends, although it's noteworthy that many subscribers also spend a lot more than their free crowns including buying the DLCs. I didn't knock anyone at all. The only point I was making was that for those who opposed the change in business model there was no change as long as they continued subscribing, and a very real benefit if they stopped subscribing at any time as they're now able to continue playing the base game (as well as any DLCs they've bought with, for example, their free crowns).

I wouldn't say I got lucky, I simply wanted to continue supporting the game and so continued subbing as I knew I wouldn't be interested in any of the vanity or convenience items likely to be sold in the Crown Store and I wanted to make a fixed regular contribution.

I've also been "double-dipped" if you want to use that term, because what I have ended up spending crowns and ingame gold on is some extra bank and inventory slots that I no longer have a need for following the issue of the crafting bag. However, I'm relaxed about that as I know that MMOs evolve over time and decisions can only be made for the moment. I spend what I need to on any game I play in order to enjoy it and for as long as it offers me value for money. Have I wasted crowns and gold on extra slots? Yes. Do I regret that? No. However, "your mileage may vary" as they say, and each to his/her own.
