    E3 is a luxury BS.
ESO sucks, we all know it, the day before E3, the E3 and the day after E3, ESO will still suck.
the lag will stay the same, loading screens will remain the same FPS drops, Sound Mutes and RNG will remain the same.
you dont need to be at E3 to know that xD
at E3, you will hear what you want to hear, i guarantee that. but that is it, you will hear you will be promised
but then again, you'll return to the same place you were at after you exit the delusion world you entered

BS. 7 milion copies of game sold and accounts created... from launch on pc. Still seems like a lot?

Dooommmmm games going to die soon with that 7 million players.

Why do you think they just had a massive sale on the base game? I would wager that sometime next year the game goes free to play.

Subbing is worthwhile at this point, with all the DLC stuff and the crafting bag. I'll be honest... just the crafting bag is enough to make me sub. Hopefully they start making more and investing more back into the game.

I doubt that it goes free to play - because this would again lead to a storm of gold farmers and bots - which would not have to pay extra for an account and they could make any amount of accounts for free - this would not be any positive.

Not really if you take Europe into account. Would be interesting to see how many active players they still have.

I said this in another thread so excuse the copy and paste :smile:

WoW is sub-based and has around 5-6 million subscribing (active). Although they lost 800,000 in three months last year. Just to show how crazy MMO numbers are and how much they can change. ESO isn't sub-based so 7 million accounts created or copies sold isn't very high as far as sales go :/

Right now we have what basically amounts to three separate instances of each faction. The first is scaled to 1-50; the second scaled to c10-150, and the last scaled to c160, in order that each faction has a "first/second/third faction" progression.

So unless I'm missing something...is this taking three instances of each faction and dropping it down to one instance for everybody?

All that means to me is if there's good grind spots in the PvE zones, they'll now be chock full of people from all three factions.

Granted, everything will scale, so I suppose it opens up the first two factions back up for grinding.

The E3 previews didn't show much of anything. At all. Even for massive titles like Quake and Doom. It was mostly Fallout and Dishonored 2, plus a few trailers that did nothing to touch on any of the titles whatsoever. If anything, ERO's statistics trailer told more about the game than some of the other previews that went up.

Did Skyrim get additional features, fixes or tweaks? Doom gets a few maps, but overall, nothing of was really shown in any sort of depth or meat about any of the titles displayed.

I like this "One Tamriel" change. It will feel more 'real' if this term can be applied to a fantasy world. Only the fact how rich your skill set is what matters, not the stat numbers. And more sophisticated gear sets at higher levels, ofc.

They might think of removing level restrictions from crafted gear though. Tired of recrafting process every 3-4 levels.

Unnecessary? Highly unlikely. The fact is that World of Warcraft is nothing but sheer phenomenon. The game was basically on the right place at the right time.

Everyone on this forum is whining about how low the number of players is, comparing the game to World of Warcraft, when they should be comparing it to the likes of Guild Wars 2 and Black Desert Online. Do you know how long it took for Guild Wars 2 to achieve 7 million unique accounts? 3+ years and a jump to free-to-play model. Noted that ESO achieved that due to the help from consoles, but it's a solid comparison. It's two of the most played MMOs out there. Black Desert Online, only a few months after its release, boasts with ~100k players online and the game is free-to-play in the East (I think). Final Fantasy 14 was sitting at 5 million at the end of last year.

Why is noone comparing it to Wildstar as well? Or Archeage? The latter amassed less than a million players and it's basically a free-to-play game. The first one held a subscription model for so long that it's empty-ish even now that it's free-to-play. Both of them were considered to be very promising. Where are they now? Wildstar is making its last stand by pretty much rereleasing itself for Steam, but if that doesn't work, it's soon going to wave goodbye. Blade & Soul had two million at its peak and it's free-to-play.

Vast majority of MMO games can DREAM of the numbers that ESO achieved (and will in the future). Even today's free-to-play games fail to achieve such high numbers when compared to unique accounts so @ZOS_MattFiror's statement that this is a huge achievement is pure fact, nothing else. Just ask yourselves: how many MMOs post-WoW era actually managed to achieve such high numbers? How many? Yeah, thought so.

    RANT:

ESO is a major success in the genre, like it or not (and I know you're not hating on game, of course, I don't want to appear like some silly fanboy or a rude little *****, I just hate the fact that there's so many people comparing it to WoW). Here's a comparison to it: it's pretty obvious that ESO is ten times better than that nostalgic-driven title that is fueled by Blizzard-hyped fanboys who s*** on every other game, including ESO.

WoW has larger numbers? Lol, fine. WoW also has incredibly bad side quests and combat that could hardly be called combat. And it's a massive cash grab, *** people with a vanity cash shop and a subscription, which is something that people seem to ignore. OH WAIT?! ESO had a subscription and you could buy ONE horse for real money?????????????? HOW PERVERSE. THIS GAME IS UTTER BLOODY ****! I'm just baffled by the fact that Blizzard, such an obvious greedy company, actually gets away with their obvious cash-grabing policy, while only delivering uninnovative, grindy and poor story-driven content. And then it comes to ESO and there's thousands of people literally taking a **** on it, just because it's there, and people on the forums refer to Zenimax as ZO$. Yeah, right. The sheer ignorance is astonishing. Not only on the forums, but on the entire internet and YouTube community.

I've watched sooooo many E3 recap videos. So many. From Sterling to TB to some smaller channels (Sterling was actually pretty nice to it). Even the media was so freaking insulting to ESO, although that's partly because the american gaming press is actually the leading medium in the gaming industry and we all know american journalism - actual journalism - has been dead for centuries now. And people are not even discussing the fact that ESO is a highly above average success - it's all like: "Oh and then there came ESO and people finally had time to take a break and go to the bathroom." So mature and objective. From people who actually consider themselves "experts" in the industry. And then they say: "Uhhh, sure. I guess it must've improved. I just don't give a crap and I'll just keep bashing it."

It's buy-to-play. Honestly, I wouldn't want to make the game free-to-play anytime soon if I was ZOS. I would just slowly decrease the buy price and slowly drop from 60$ to 40$ then to 20$ and leave it at that (depends on their sale charts, tbh - if they can afford to place the game on sale and then see that it's selling as expected, they can just leave it the way it is, tbh). Awesome DLCs are what's going to bring them money in the future, not vanilla content.

OK. Sorry if I misunderstood. I only supplied numbers to demonstrate how people come and go all the time (and how WoW are actually losing people who are joining ESO instead). I chose WoW because it was the biggest competitor. I agree that ESO have done amazing for one year, but I do also think that to continue to do well will mean customer feedback. Good and bad. Anyway...hug?
