7 Fun, Weird, and Random ESO Game-Mechanic Facts

1) Wood Elves are stronger melee warriors than Nords.
A Bosmer (Wood Elf), because of a 3% max stamina racial passive, hits harder with a hulking two-handed weapon than a Nord.

2) The strongest archers carry a greatsword in their pocket.
If a two-handed weapon is on your swap bar, then you have access to an out-of-combat skill, Momentum, that offers major brutality - which raises your character's weapon damage and makes your bow stronger. For classes like Templar and Nightblade, who don't have out-of-combat access to major brutality, they will need to either use potions to strengthen their bow or, like many players do, slot a two-handed weapon to make their bow stronger. It makes perfect sense that the aforementioned hulking two-handed weapon makes bow attacks stronger... common sense, people.

3) Sorcerers do not have the best magicka regeneration.
The Sorcerer class, which would traditionally be described as a magic-based class, does not have the highest magicka regeneration potential in the game (Nightblade).

4) Sorcerers have the best stamina regeneration.
The Sorcerer class, which would traditionally be described as a magic-based class, has the highest stamina regeneration potential in the game.

5) ZOS hints about class-intended weapons and armor at the character creation screen.
When selecting a class at the character creation screen and selecting the option to view how your character looks in "end-game" gear, you'll notice the following:
- DragonKnights appear in heavy armor, wielding a sword and shield.
- Sorcerers appear in light armor, wielding a destruction staff.
- Nightblades appear in medium armor, wielding dual daggers.
- Templars appear in heavy armor, wielding a two-handed axe.

6) "Hidden" racial skills.
When viewing racial descriptions on the character selection screen, specific racial bonuses for Orc (weapon damage and sprint speed), Argonian (potion-consuming benefits), and Khajiit (increased stamina regeneration) are not mentioned. If you, or a friend, are not aware of these bonuses and are picking your race based on the descriptions in the character selection screen, keep these few "hidden" racial skills in mind. Additional research on wikis or other websites, before character selection, is recommended.

7) Staves appear to only require one hand to wield.
With the exception of the block animation, which is always performed with your character using two hands on a staff, most staff animations appear to only use one hand. Unfortunately, the game registers staves as a two-handed weapon, despite many animations suggesting otherwise. Usually that free hand just dangles at your character's side. Sorry Gandalf wannabes, no sword + staff combo, for you.

    Bonus:

    8) Missing visual effects on Templar skill(s).
Restoring Aura and it's morph, Radiant Aura, both lack a visual effect/cue that signal to the player that the skill is active. Currently, Restoring Aura and Radiant Aura are the only two cast-upon-self skills in the game that lack a visual cue which will let the caster know when the effect is active. The only way to see if/when the skill is active or expired is to look in the pause menu (unless you have access to PC mods).

This is the case because these racials were added after launch. In typical ZOS fashion they simply forgot about revisiting parts of the game that changed with updates made after launch.

Stamina-based morphs of the Nightblade class are now B-weapon skills

They no longer deal physical damage but disease damage. I guess, I should better wear the plague doctor costume then.

Another weird fact is Agony does not necessarily work on the selected target.

But in fact certain groups of mobs count as something like a squad - i cast Agony on one of them, and the same I casted it on, might approach me, while another of that group is getting the Agony effect. So I have no way to select my target correctly, when I am facing such a group of mobs - even that is a target-based skill.

    REF: Dragonknight Stam/Poison Morphs

    a. Venom is combustible/flammable
    b. Magma is green
    c. Base flame skills now morph (evolve) into skills that have nothing to do (visually and thematically) with flames i.e. Searing Strike ---> Venomous Claw

    Nightblade

Spell and shadow are their friends. By darkness they move with haste, casting magic to benefit their circumstances.

    Sorcerer

Besting the most well-equipped fighters, they rely on the spells of the mystic arts. Unique to these mages is the bodily stamina to be armed with the thickest armor.

so these traits are not new.

if someone picks "rogue" when they make their char, they are trying to play rogue, even if it's supplemented by magic
similarly, if someone picks "wizard" when they make their char, they are going for a high dps caster

"breaking the mold" on obvious things when you choose traditional archtypes is not creative, it's trolling the user base
