    i play from Indonesia...

but tbh...i dunno man, the better ping seems a very good offer for less lag while playing, BUT it also means that i need to say goodbye to my friends and guildies on NA server, and also japan population probably not as good as NA since its not centrilize and not many people in SEA region playing B2P MMO game (AFAIK , SEA thrive with F2P MMO)

Pleasure to meet a fellow ESO gamer from Indonesia. Please feel free to join an Indonesian guild "Legionnaires of Garuda" , pm : @lustdog ... cheers.

We've been hearing news that ESO will have a server based in Japan starting July 2016. Will this be exclusive for the Japan market only, or will players closer to that region be able to migrate as what has similarly been done on the EU servers ?
From what we heard a while ago, it will be for the Japanese market only.

I think it would just dilute the population even more. I play from NZ & Australia where I work, when I was back in NZ i had access to the new fibre optic cables being installed for NZs internet was in Auckland my ping was around 190--220 constant I play ESO on US server. Now back in sydney where I get around 230 - 260 constant but my area still hasnt had the new Fibre cables installed so should get 200 or about with that.

Just pinging a server in a different country is probably not a good way to test what you are going to get if you connected to a game in that same country alot more packets are going to be sent/received. As long as there is a great distance between servers there will always be latency problems even with the most current tech available.

Would still be faster for us in Australia to connect to the USA.

Really ? Please correct me if I am mistaken but that applies to friends based in Victoria (Melbourne) or NSW (Sydney), whereas friends from Perth may have faster connection if server was based in Japan ?

Its interesting to know that Australian players use separate undersea cables depending on which part you live.

    *miss living in Australia*

I live in Perth have always found it faster to connect to the U.S than Japan which is still half a world away and we have a cable running direct to the U.S from Aust. I get 300-350 ping to the U.S but had even worse in the past with Asian connections.

I think all them international internet cables are all located in NSW?

Not really. IP lockout because the server is owned by DMM.

Bad idea in total, SWTOR did this for oceanic servers, it fell dead because no one played it and was forced into a server merge.

Quite frankly ESO isn't a steller must have game, FFS they can't even balance 15 class skills between magicka and stamina.

So no, they wouldn't help ping if the server had nearly no players in it to keep it sustainable.

    @Enodoc @ZOS_GinaBruno

Does anybody have confirmation that there will even be a JPN Server at any stage (July launch or further into the future)?

I've been reading mixed responses from all over and would like to know what the situation is.

Many of my friends love this game and played from Japan last year but we all eventually quit due to the terrible ping we all experienced in PVP.

When we read there would be a JPN localisation and server we all began getting hyped to re-roll and play on the fresh server!

Now I'm seeing some news that the JPN version of the game will join on NA/EU server?

People clearly love this game, and the world of Tamriel. It's such a shame that so many of us don't get to experience it in all it's grandeur due to its server structure.

**Edit; Does anybody know the cost to run a server in Japan? It just makes no sense to me from a business perspective. Asia has money to burn and pump into this world/game! (In my experience) The reason people in Asia/Oceana leave is not because of the game itself, but because it's unplayable!

Have ZOS ever done market research on why their customers left? Everyone I know who has quit the game from this part of the world has done so for my reasons stated above. Surely they could make enough money by retaining current/returning players from our market to justify the JPN/Oceana server.

**Not trying to flame ZOS or anyone else, I'm genuinely curious as to how this works and why this decision has been made.

To me it's just strange that they would bother expanding only to have people quit in a few months.

@SourishWhale There seems to have been a bit of misinterpretation by some of us on the forums. When they first announced a Japanese launch, we assumed that also meant a Japanese server. However, it has since been brought to our attention that this was never officially confirmed, and was just speculation on the forums. While ESO is launching in Japan, with a new Japanese language client, there will most likely not be any new servers.

Thanks man. Incredibly disappointing, but I appreciate the reply.

I heard that early access is open now, so maybe players can use resource monitor to find out which ip address is eso.exe connecting to.
