Is the Guild Trader System evolving beyond the casual players?

Prices are too high to A.) Even bother joining a guild or paying for a kiosk B.) To buy anything aside from the most menial supplies from traders--can get it faster just by farming than by running to a dozen different places and using the ghastly marketplace UI.

If you are PC use the awesome guild store addon really helps.

Also I don't know where those fees are all coming from. I've been in several trading guilds and I am now in the top 2 traders of PC/EU and I never had to put a single coin into guild bank. Sure the top guilds require minimum sales but 10k sales/week is easy to achieve for people that play a little more and for the rest there are many partner guilds in less frequent places without any requirement. Just from experience though don't join guilds that actively search for members that mostly means they just want your cash.

Many guilds do charge weekly membership fees.I dont join those because they want a lot of gold to stay it them.

I would think that the traders benefit the casual player more than the hard-core player. Hard-core players are probably in area chat enough they could sell their stuff just by asking around. But for casuals, Traders may be the only way they can sell their extra stuff. Trading communities work even better than Guild traders IMO because you can ask about and advertise specific items, ask for trades instead of selling or even ask for specific things to be crafted. Guild Traders need to have better search options IMO to rise above the versatility and growing number of trade communities

If inflation gets too much and bidding for guild selling positions gets out of hand there is bound to be a recession sooner or later and prices will drop again.

Based on my limited experience (XB NA), the cost of kiosks in major cities seems to have skyrocketed. The bids spike when new DLC is released. Also, I've seen "guild wars" where folks get mad at each other and try to take over a kiosk merely out of spite.

There was a time when I suggested consolidating the Guild Traders into a single Auctioneer for the Zone. It would open up slots for more Trade Guilds to participate in that particular Zone, drop the listing fees for Guild Members and open up the opportunity for individuals to list items with a listing fee. The Guilds would still bid but with the increased number of slots the bidding prices would significantly drop.

People didnt like it for varying reasons. But I still think its a better approach to the system then the current one.
