Strictly regarding pvp.. Magplar or stamplar?

Often times, I find myself facing Templars who have an awesome ability to outlast me. I'll be just an execution away from winning the battle, and before I know it, they are back to full health and their resources seem to never end. Is this possible with a stamplar? Or are the magicka builds the one that dominate in this area?

I love Stamplar for PvP merely because being close and personal with the execute is nice. RD is also good but it can be countered ( contrary to popular forum beliefs ).

That's completely biased though and I am prob 50-50 I love all my stam classes but my Mag DK,Temp & NB als ohave very soft spots in my heart. So making me choose is a nasty thing OP.

Both have great heals, I think the stam Templar has a slight advantage for longer fights merely because IF you kill someone you can regain so much resources that you can just continue so basically it's a snowball effect.

I also love holding a 2H and smashing ppl with it, even though WB does not knock ppl down anymore or give empower, it's still okay.

Magplar for the win. Stamplar is well not unique as most of the stuff they do, is the same as other stamina classes.

Dunno, I think they have their own identity. Jabs, Ritual, Repentance are all unique and key things to the class.

Repentance. One of the best skills in the game. In a big fight, you can have potentially endless sustain.

As a Magplar, I would urge you to go Stamplar this patch.
Stamplars are probably what you're running into, in terms of unlimited resources and healing.
Magplars have ridiculously amazing healing, however their resource management is below par.
The majority of Magplars have magicka sustain issues due to needing either heavy armour or lots of impenetrable pieces to withstand attacks (unlike magblade cloak or magsorc shields). Also the templar tree doesn't have any good sustain passives like sorcerer (capacitor) , nightblade (refreshing shadows) or DKs (battle roar), meaning you have to use engine guardian or go vampire to get any decent sustain.
Also magplars have horrid mobility without vampire and all of their attacks are either channeled (sweeps, jesus beam) or have a cast time (dark flare, blazing spear), making bursting a high-mobility/shuffle target difficult and with the recent patch, there are many more stam-players all running shuffle with high mobility.

To top it all off, Stamina has had a HUGE buff this patch in the form of the Fighters Guild skill tree. Previously, the only downside to a Stamplar was the lack of a good ultimate, however with the change to dawnbreaker and the recent buff to crescent sweep, they're in a good place.

Neither. Magplars and Stamplars in small scale have serious resource management issues. Repentance only works on dead bodies and is therefore rather useless outside of zerg scenarios.

On PC, Templars do pretty much not exist other than zerg healbots anyway, so I kinda doubt you're facing them "often", unless on some console.

both are great in duels and small-scale groups (at the moment, don't confuse this with the the past, especially 1.6 and 1.7). stamplars have the benefit of slightly higher mobility, magplars have the added option of switching to full healer if you want to do that for a group.

major mending and purge do a lot for both of them. according to my personal taste, I like either of them in sustained fights making use of these two powerful effects, but i like my stamplars more bursty (still nowhere near ganky stamblades) then my magplars (for which i currently prefer 5heavy without a doubt).

Good insight from everyone. It's odd to hear someone say Templars have bad resource management, though. Because I thought that's what they were all about. But, templar is the only class I have not really tried so I can't argue.

@cazlonb16_ESO , as a matter of fact I am on console.. And it happens often enough for me to have wondered and asked something about it.

Both are in a good spot right now.

I've been soloing on my magplar to test my build and L2P the class. Tanky DPS build; even in 5 light I'm yoloing onto groups occupying pins and surviving long enough for the players in stealth to decide to join me. But in a long fight; I can't sustain long enough to survive that kind of abuse for long, and if I'm out of magicka I'm dead.

I think templars tend to have sustain issues because so many of our abilities are channels. Repentance and Channeled Focus help, but it's hard to weave in those heavy attacks to restore magicka.

If there's bodies dropping on the floor Templars will do really good in terms of rescource management because of Repentance and will even compete with NBs who have the best sustain in the game.

But outside scenarios where you're quickly killing mobs or players, Templars easily have the worst rescource management in the game of all classes.

It is not a game changer but it is a noticeable advantage.

I haven't played much since Thieves' Guild released so I am not going to speak on overall balance of classes as of late, but in this area atleast Templars are still the ones worst off.

If you want to assist your team when needed you'll want to go mag.

If you like in your face combat go stam, if you like ranged with a little face to face go mag.

Once you get champion points sustain is not an issue at all for either.
