yeh... tried to catch one for butterfly wings... didn't let me click it... severe disappointment ensued
You get butterfly wings from........butterflys. Nixads don't yield anything beyond insect parts. They do seem to hang around runestones. Seems like every time I find a node, a nixad shows up.

A Mesmer/Illusionist class would be nice... and a Necromancer class, and a Ranger/Archer class (stam based) and a Berserker class (also stam based) or a Duelist/Spellblade hybrid class (1h no offhand class with every skill having a stam and mag versions).
I want lore on them. I have many questions.
@Abeille I wanted lore too, the only reference I can find is this lore book. It really just raises more questions.

Thanks! I found a book inside the Cathedral of Akatosh (only accessible during a quest) about a Khajiit who had her camp attacked by a swarm of Nixads in the middle of the night. I'm afraid the book wasn't put online yet, or I couldn't find it. Anyway, they are really mischievous (which we can see by how the wild ones laugh at us all the time), love moonsugar to death (will literally eat it until they die if they get a chance) and hate coffee.
I also found a small poem about them inside the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, but being part of a collection of poems who seem to have been made to scare young children, I don't know if it is accurate. It seems to be a common belief among children that they eat the eyes of children who misbehave. There is also a letter in that place where the last step of the quest "The Sweetroll Killer" that confirms that belief.
That's all I could find in game about them.I really like them, they have many unique animations, and I want lore on them. I have many questions.
For example, are they intelligent? Like, are they closer to an animal, or to a person? Maybe they are like goblins on that regard?
Can they understand Tamrielic language?
Are they magically inclined? They seem to be found around alchemy and enchanting ingredients, and also near skyshards and minotaur camps. If so, do their colors have anything to do with that? I noticed I find blue ones near skyshards and nirnroot and purple ones near other alchemy ingredients.
They drop mats like trait stones and alchemy ingredients. Do they carry them around for some reason? Do they collect stuff that has magical proprieties? If so, why? Can they use it somehow, or they just like to be around magical stuff?
Either way, they are awesome little buggers. I am waiting patiently for the purple one.
I think they are intelligent.Sometimes when something bad is about to happen,or went wrong, she goes "Uhoh!!I really like them, they have many unique animations, and I want lore on them. I have many questions.

Did you buy one yet? They are just way beyond cute to have with you.I never feel alone.
They certainly seem to be somehow intelligent. I spent all my 5 weeks of PTS with one, but I didn't buy one on Live yet. I'm waiting for the purple one (but I might buy the blue one instead, I change my mind all the time).
I love their laugh. And they have little vocals, like talking to themselves, then laughing.Adorable little nutcases.
They have many different animations. I counted eleven (eleven!!) on the PTS. Their sneeze is absolutely adorable too.
On PTS, the wild ones would avoid your attacks for 10 entire seconds, doing back flips in the air while laughing at your face. They changed it to two seconds, so it isn't as funny anymore
I understand that it avoiding attacks for 10 seconds was annoying, but I thought that was the point.

Hahah, as someone with a Cryomancer (destruction staff + begging ZOS for a class with Ice Magic) and a Ranger (Stamina Sorc with pets, a bow and medium armor), I know that feel.
