Problem: Blade of Woe and Vampire Feeding Use the same Synergy Key

Both the Blade of Woe and Vampire Feed use the (x) Synergy Key and both require the player to sneak up behind the NPC. While using the Blade of Woe if the players is not paying attention he will instead feed on the NPC. This has happened to me twice when I have been in a hurry to attack using the Blade of Woe and cloak out to remain undetected. In my opinion a seperate key assignment for using the Blade of Woe should be implemented to deter accidental Vampire feeding.

That is an unfortunate oversight.
Definitely needs fixin'.

I don't know why they didn't just make BoWoe activated by simultaneously pressing square and x.

The feeding is from a longer distance, to use blade you must get up really close, then the synergy changes from feed to blade. Annoying maybe, but not that difficult.

It was pointed out a few times on the PTS forums. In the end, we end up getting used to it, but we have to be careful especially if the character is walking. The feeding synergy can be activated from further away than the Blade of Woe, so we need to get used to the distance.

It is rather annoying though, especially when you are stalking a moving character and you need to be careful not to feed instead, then some other player rudely comes in and kills the character before you do.

Word of warning, don't try it if you're lagging like hell.

I hit x for blade of woe but lag made me feed instead. Turned my vamp stage back and I didn't even realise till 5 hours later wondering where my sneak speed had gone.

A friend of mine who plays a vampire came to me asking for help on this. So I made a little add-on called "Don't Feed the Vampires" that prevents the feed option from popping up. He suggested that I post it here on the forums for those that have the same problem with Blade of Woe and want to remain at level 4 vampirism.

Have not had a problem with it yet.

Maybe an audio change so the switch between the two is audibly different.

Man got the addon and thanks. Problem solved. I don't feed anyways and was tired of accidentally going to stage three when trying to use the Blade of Woe. ZOS should of thought this out and assigned another key but it's ZOS so what else can you expect.

This was noted extensively on the PTS. It should have been fixed.

I notice the problem most on stairs and other inclines. Due to how badly the game engine handles verticality, you have to be right on top of the mob to execute, and even a hair outside and you will feed instead. I have simply stopped trying to assassinate people when they are walking up or down stairs, as I almost always end up eating them instead.

Thanks for linking that Addons though. I think I will try that out.

The work at different ranges, but yes I agree it would be nice if it was on a different key combo. I hate feeding when a person steps just out of range of the blade...

My oh my. This IS a problem and here's why! (thought it's been said before yeah?)

The problem comes from vampires who are assassins, accidentally feeding when they mean to use the Blade of Woe. This causes you to from from stage 4, which gives lots of benefits, but also requires an absurd amount of vampire power usage to get back to. On top of it, it also alerts enemies that you're there, and it ALSO gives you a costly bounty for feeding on someone in a "Restricted Location" or, just out in the world.

1. Loss of vampire level which takes a lot of time to reset
2. A bounty
3. Being 'spotted' especially when on a sacrament.
4. Being attacked by local enemies

There is ALSO an issue with the distance. Even if you're RIGHT behind an enemy and they're slightly down in incline or slightly up above you in incline, or start to go up stairs, or even a slightly inclined ROAD... it does not register as a backstab and suddenly you're drinking their blood.

ZOS, come on now. Add a way to REASSIGN the blade of Woe to a keyboard key, or reassign other synergies. It's that simple. How was this not considered before release?

You can reset it pretty quickly now. You just need to spam mistform 12 times to knock yourself down a stage if that's what you want.

It doesn't make this entire situation less annoying, but it is an option.

i think a solution hat would work cross platform (cause console players dont have as many options re: buttons as pc/mac) were if we could turn off vampire feeding under gameplay!

This was addressed in PTS but ignored.

It's easy enough to have the vampire feeding synergy as a + x for Xbox and circle x for ps4 but I'm sure the devs will make out like its the hardest thing to do and take a year to address it. They're too busy adding different mobs to wax grinding areas and other negative changes to gameplay.

They can probably change the feeding animation to having your character attack the npc's neck (kind of like a BoW animation). That should be the instant kill and also reduce vamp stage b/c you fed.
But this would only work in npc's while feeding on players would continue how it is now.

My only concern is that i wont be able to go invisible then feed while in combat.

They should do 2 things. 1st. Make feed and drain the same move. Alter the drain so it becomes feed if you are stealthed from target. ( this will help with me accidentally feeding on and giving myself away to potential blade of woe targets) and have it do the same damage and stun with the added animation of the feed with the blood. And secondly.. Vampire stages should work in reverse. I never knew a vampire to become more vampirey and badass by starving himself out. We should have to improve and keep our vampire stage up by feeding. We should look scary and supernaturally beautiful when we are full fed. And then withered and at death's door when we have normal (weak) human strength. It'd keep everyone who is a vampire actively feeding. Because .. if you're a vampire you want all the stage 4 side effects ,that's what you took the skill line for.
