ETA on console chat?

Anyone know if there has been any recent mention on the progress of console chat? I remember all of my friends thinking it was going to release in TG. On the first day the DLC released people in area chat were asking about how to turn it on, until we realized that it wasn't a thing. Since then, I haven't heard much about it being brought up. Has everyone just given up on the idea or having something that would a. Put is somewhat up to par with PC, b. Allow casual players to sell their items without a trader or having to shout, and c. Most importantly, an opportunity to stay in contact with guild members while doing normal group activities like daily dungeons?

Eso is one of the few xbox games I own that I can play with my kids around. It's difficult to voice chat with them screaming though, not to mention rude to other players.

This is one of the many reasons I want console text chat. It's obviously possible as neverwinter has this functionality right now on xbox.

Unfortunately all they said when they announced it was by the end of the year. Hopefully before or with the next DLC.

Hopefully soon. It's like a ghost town without it and yes I use voice chat almost every time I'm on, in guild chat in Cyrodiil, but I'd much prefer a simple, optional(?) text chat box as well, at the bottom left of my UI instead of relying on quick chat emotes which are very limited.

I'm almost certain it's going to be closer to the fall but I've not seen a date just a confirmation about 2 months back that's it's still being worked on and will come in 2016

Hate chat boxes hope they never introduce it. Reason I play on PS4 is for group chat and chat period. The morons that ruin voice chat are far and few between and even when they do pop up its pretty easy to block them. FF14 was all chat box crap unless you started a ps4 party and I hated it. Nothing more than trying to type when your playing, its annoying to me especially when you can just talk.

More than 2 people trying to talk at once is annoying to me. Wish they never had voice chat.

@bedlom Don't bother with the ignorant post. Everyone who was in the text chat discussions knows it's not just about being able to talk on a mic.

We've won the war. Text chat is coming. Trolls will be trolls. Best to just ignore them at this point.

I can't find the thread but it was in April when they commented that's it's still in the works and will hit in 2016 but it would not hit with Dark Brotherhood. It seemed to hint at later rather than sooner but not timeframe was given but that when its ready, it would be announced.
