For me I've noticed M'aiq the liar whispers everything to me except his parting words now. And I've also caught a couple other NPC's talking really quite then BAM back to normal after straining to hear them...

Fight in Gold Coast Arena. ALL sound went out, except for announcer. Sound came back (including music) when he talked then it went away again during fight rounds.
I also noticed DB quest givers could talk loud, then really quiet, then loud again.

    Hey folks,

We are looking into this now, but as always there are some specific questions you can answer here that will help us greatly with this:

    - Which client were you using? 32 or 64 bit?
    - PC or Mac ?
    - What sounds are you losing specifically? Combat sounds? UI sounds? Music? Ambience?
    - What circumstances are you in when this happens, be specific. (If you are in a dungeon, which dungeon, which boss, etc)
    - When you lose sounds, are you losing them indefinitely, or do they come back after some point?
    - If sounds come back, what change in circumstances happened?
    - What other programs/services are you running in the background, if any? (Netflix, Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, etc)

    - BONUS: If you have video footage of this (preferably without other music or voice chat programs running) those would be extra useful!

    Heya Casey.

    - I'm using 32bit, similar to many other people.
    - PC.
    - Most sounds that disappear, sometimes the background music will stay, but not always.
    - It usually always happens in fights during trials. The sounds always return, also they tend to come and go (depends on the fight though). In really busy fights you usually don't get the sound back until the fight is over.
    - I don't have any background programs running other than Steam and Nvidia Shadowplay, both of which have very limited impact on performance.

I don't have any footage without talking in the background, but next time I do a trial I will try to record it for you.

    • Lost sounds: during a dialog an NPC will say a line, no problem, then no sound for the next line, then sound again for the next.
    • Additional sounds: lots of additional sounds all the time. Most of these seem to be related to earlier activities, sounds that did or should have happened then but are inappropriately being re-used later. I ALSO still get the correct sound, unless Wrong Sounds below applies. This increases the longer I play.
    • Wrong sounds: Sometime the wrong sound gets played for a specific action I do. So if I call up a menu I might get a "working at the anvil" sound instead of the "menu" sound. If I call up the menu several times I get that same incorrect sound each time. Wandering around Gold Coast farming mats I kept getting a woman's voice saying something like, "Traitor! I knew it was you, and now you die!" (probably not right but something like that). Pretty sure that was being substituted for one of the environmental sounds.
    • Tends to happen more and more as I play longer. After a while it is just a mash-up of sound.
    • Fix is to quit, restart game.
I would love to give you video but my ShadowPlay is not working on 64bit since DB dropped.

    All sounds - see video
    - What circumstances are you in when this happens, be specific. (If you are in a dungeon, which dungeon, which boss, etc)
Intense combat with a group larger than 4 (have not had it happen in battle in 4 man dungeons)
    - When you lose sounds, are you losing them indefinitely, or do they come back after some point?
    Slowly came back
    - If sounds come back, what change in circumstances happened?
Seemed as if when the load of battle ended, sounds would start coming in as needed.
    - What other programs/services are you running in the background, if any? (Netflix, Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, etc)
No other software running. Also note in the video that I had all of my combat HUD UI addons turned off trying out the new built in UI.

Note about the video's low volume: You will need to crank the volume to 100% to hear the video. I did that big update for Windows 10 a few weeks ago. Didn't realize until this new issue came up that the update affected my sound driver and now Shadowplay appears to be recording the driver output rather than the input, as a result my system volume control raises and lowers the Shadowplay recording volume. This was affecting videos prior to the DB patch so I am sure it is not related. I have since raised the system volume and lowered the speaker volume to compensate until Creative and Nvidia sort it out, if ever.

All game sound stops but other sounds like teamspeak are unaffected.
In PVP battles with more than about 20 players on screen.
Sound would come back & then go away again periodically.
I _think_ that the sound would come back when I got further away from the 'nucleus' of the fight... but can't be sure as it's always a bit chaotic.
Also running teamspeak & skype... the sound from these did not drop out.

    PC

    - What sounds are you losing specifically? Combat sounds? UI sounds? Music? Ambience?
All sound (until now we were using lag as an indication enemy players were in the region but can now use lose of sound to indicate incoming hostiles lol)

    - What circumstances are you in when this happens, be specific. (If you are in a dungeon, which dungeon, which boss, etc)
    Anywhere in Cyrodiil

    - When you lose sounds, are you losing them indefinitely, or do they come back after some point?
Sound usually comes back when enough enemy players die or move away from the area.

    - If sounds come back, what change in circumstances happened?

Happens with no other program running when I'm solo or when grouped with guild and have Team Speak open

Sound works great in 64 bit client. I made the switch after being fed up with the 32 bit clients lack of sound.

I understand your need for criteria, but in lieu of that I can honestly say that sounds is stopping regardless of all of the above criteria. I can say that confidently because I have had multiple raid groups in multiple places lose sounds.

    32 and 64 bit
    pc and mac
    all sounds
all dungeons and bosses, but most often in content including many people such as SO, Maw, or Wrothgar daily boss quests
    the sounds come back
-the change that causes sounds to come back is less intense combat, less effects, or an outright ending of the battle
some times one of those programs, sometimes all of those programs, sometimes none of those programs
Sorry, I don't have a video atm, but am confident in my above answers

Since DB went live. The most annoying non-combat sound drops are the Fences and Merchants dialogue in every single Outlaw Refuge.
    PC, 32-Bit
Sound returns after leaving the refuge
