To be fair, I wasn't trying to be an obstructionist.

But at the same time; it occurs to me that players are getting so caught up in what "builds" are FotM, "best", etc., that they're losing the magick of simply playing the game and having fun with a character.

Personally, I don't worry about "builds". I don't follow the Flavor of the Month, nor do I worry about topping the silly "Leaderboards" for DPS/Healing/Tanking, etc.

I simply built a character that survives well, is fun to play... and then I just play.

No one has to agree with me, but I won't sit and allow my personal opinion to be labeled as "obstructive".

So this is why my group finder makes me cringe. Ever try healing a vet dungeon with a dps that does less than you? It's a nightmare lawl.

That's a bit too biased for me.

I already played in teams with Sorcerer and Nightblades as tank and they were better than a DK tank.

If I'm not wrong, I played WGT a long time ago, while "throw a shard" during Molag Kena's fight was the "way-to-go", with a Sorcerer healer (no shards) and we did as good as with a Templar healer

I played in groups with a NB DPS that couldn't even scratch Lord Warden's back

I played several dungeons and trials with Templar healers that didn't Repent corpses at all or used to take too long to do so.
I am the very model of a scientist Salarian, I've studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian.
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology).
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian.

no way to recover magicka other than pots
One of the focus morphs restore 2k magicka per 0.5 seconds. Are you sure you know how to templar?
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
    And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
    Ends life, kills laughter.

This is one of the reasons why I love this game. Every time one of these threads comes up I learn a different way of doing something. Same goes for gear set-ups. There's a lot of min/maxing, but there are also some off-the-path set ups that work for people.

I've not tried tanking with a sorc yet, or healing with a DK, though two of my friends have DKs that heal, and have healed Trials and DSA, so I know they are viable.

I love my NB as healer and DPS, and my Templar as Tank first and Healer second. My DKs are still undecided on what they are going to do, so they are mainly tanking for the time being. I may make my AD sorc a tank to see how that goes. Should be interesting.

Though I'm surprised not to see Shattering Prison mentioned as a skill sorcs could use for tanking?

I think Magicka Nightblade tanks are more than viable. The only thing they're missing is the utility from things like DK Talons and Chains. However, if you want a big AOE snare, Elemental Blockade with an ice staff works a treat. I use 1H + Shield on one bar, ice staff or resto staff on the other.

Are you sure you know how to read numbers? It is only 120 magicka per 0.5 sec.

DK healer is pretty good (better than NB healer imo), Ignous Shield gives the group a small dmg shield and 6 second major mending to the caster. Choking Talons is also good to reduce the dmg your group takes and root enemies.

Sorc tanking is kinda boring, you basically taunt and shield stack till the dps kills the boss.
Because you barely block you need to break-free quickly but other than that its really easy.
There are not really good spells to help your group, but you can help a bit with elemental drain or siphon spirit.

Shattering Prison is oke for adds but the dmg is pretty low for the cost, Id rather use liquid lightning and give the healer the option to use the synergy for resources and AOE dmg.

The magicka return from channelled focus has never been that high whenever I have been looking at redoing morphs. All of the skill calculators I can find say the magicka return is 120 or 150 per 0.5 second which is not magicka regen it is a tickle. Do you know how to end game?

Even if you are right (which I doubt, seriously 4k magicka per second?) and it got a massive buff that I missed you still have to cast two skills, one for magicka regen and one for stam regen compared to NBs one skill for regen with a % increase of the max of both.
