What happens to those people who miss out on weekly rewards because of cheating?

The NB and Sorc vMA leaderboards are especially scary. Many people who worked really hard to get good scores are now being pushed off the leaderboards by people who are exploiting the perma-ulti cheat. What happens to those who miss out?

And more importantly, what happens to those who cheat?

As one of those people affected by this, here's what will happen to us. Nothing. We're [Snip] mate. Take solace in the fact that the cheaters will hopefully be banned.

I really enjoy this game, and to see it spoiled like this disgusts me.

I doubt anything will happen. You'll just be S.O.L. and forced to take it on the chin. But @daemonios has said, you drop a name and kiss your thread goodbye. Why? Because that's how ZOS treats its community.

ZOS needs to analyze all their scores (they have the data) and figure out who cheated and who didn't. I was in a guild whose members BLATANTLY exploited this. I left when one of them (SHALL NOT BE NAMED- Chief) linked a 36k parse on the stage 6 boss, all proud.

Someone got 597k yesterday (that's 20k higher than the dude who previoulsy held #1 and spent most of his gaming time in there). Other people, who a week ago were complaining of how impossible stage 3 was, now suddenly post 550k scores.

I can't discuss the specific mechanics. But people use a 3rd party software to give themselves UNLIMITED ultimates. So they spam meteors on everything.

LOL! Facts! Hella threads about how the PC/Mac players were suffering from VMSA Stage 3 sliding, and Stage 5 teleporting boss. Now look. How ironic. Lmao.

It's true though, both of those things happen haha. Uncontrollable slide and boss teleporting in stages 3 and 5 and *** xD

But that's beside the point; I know 12+ people by name who use this ***. And at least 10 more who I'm 70% sure about.

On PC NA, a sorc got nearly 600k, the previous #1 was 570 ish.

It's kind of hard to get any video evidence of these cheaters cheating though :/

I hope ZOS has other means of identifying & banning them.

I feel disgusted that all the time I spent in vMoL with my guild to be one of the few who beat it is going to be washed away by cheaters who would normally probably wipe at the first trash pack running in with their permanent magma armors & meteors and clearing the whole thing.

Luckily (based on the leaderboards & people I talk to) this cheating hasn't started affecting EU server yet, but I did screencap vMoL leaderboards just in case - if it starts getting more names we'll know who was cheating.

Thank you for raising this issue, we are investigating this issue. In the meantime, please continue to use the in-game report function to report players who are using any kind of exploit and refrain from posting names or videos showing names on these forums.

Sorry, but until the players see proof that such things as exploiting and hacking are dealt with appropriately (no 3-day ban crap but perma-ban/character deletion) then naming and shaming of exploiters/hackers will and should still happen.

Remember, exploiters/hackers have no rights, only the innocent do.

Looks like we will need a leaderboard reset this next DLC, at this rate.
597935 on the Sorcerer VMA is the main reason a leaderboard reset is in order. That score is impossible to obtain, to those who don't know Streak One currently #2 his run was 40 minutes and his score is 575102. The person ahead of him has that 597k which means that run was 29minutes. I don't believe that is possible at all unless you are spamming free cost Overload.

So it seems like cheaters are getting very unrealistic scores.

Some are, but not all. Still, on NA, half of the top 10 sorc scores weren't even in the top 100 2 days ago. Some DK's didn't have completes before their #9 and #2 scores, either. It is hard to get video evidence, but ZOS has the data from all vma runs. They analyzed mine (supposedly) when I had a complaint, so I'm sure it could be done with other runs, too.

Yeah, I agree... those kind of scores popping up right now are unlikely to be a coincidence. But there's always the "what if" angle that ZOS is probably going to consider when there is no video proof of the cheater.

In PvP it's easy to gather evidence, in PvE... when it's just the cheaters in the dungeon - not that easy.

Maybe leaderboards should just be rolled back a couple of days & disabled until this issue is fixed.

I doubt they'd be stupid enough to do that. Most of the cases we have heard about, like the Writ Exploit or Double Mondus, were all exploits done using game mechanics, whereas this involves actual programs that mess with the game. While it was a huge mistake to not remove all the duped materials from the Writ Exploit, I don't think it was as serious as this. I'm confident that ZOS will take the proper action and banhammer all of the cheaters, as they have done in the past with people that seriously violated TOS, such as goldsellers and bots.

You may, and me too. But I recognize that every week there are players who just got their 1st leaderboard scores. It would be unfair to them
