Why is it that the map icon it drawn to set locations on the map it makes harder and annoying to set way points. there is no point for this it is not helpful in any way can this be taken away please

There is kind of a way to disable it.

In map mode press the button that takes you to options... Then go to the Filters tab... Deselect objectives, wayshrines, and group members if needed. Go back to map and plant your way point, then turn back on the objectives and wayshrines.

Would be nice if they just gave us a toggle button to turn the sticky part of the cursor on and off though.
