That's really odd the face paint on NPC orcs isn't available to then... but IS available to a different race.

I know, right? And I really wanted my Orc, who is a master equipment crafter, to be part of the Morkul clan and use their face paint. I hope ZOS makes it available to Orcs when they release the barbershop.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Seriously. You've said these things are coming. You are already TORTURING us with hairstyles on NPCs in Hew's Bane that WE CAN'T HAVE currently! And now I see THIS one from one of the Dark Brotherhood articles:

Are WE getting this stuff??? If yes, WHEN? You've really been silent FAR TOO LONG on this subject! And ditto for PLAYER HOUSING! PLEASE THROW US A BONE ALREADY! Thank you.

Have you not noticed Zos' developement cycle? Jewelry crafting was mentioned over 2 years ago.

And then it was put on the backburner.

(EDIT because that quoted twice because my mouse is dying and randomly double clicks when I don't want it to)

I want phased housing that I can buy with in game gold. I want the ability to farm (small, med, large areas.. again unlocked/paid for with in game gold) provisioning and alchemy plants, and I want some darn animals roaming around that I selected to be there!

I'm hoping ZOS will see the opportunity for opening up a brand new crafting line for clothier, woodworker, and blacksmiths, as well as the ability to breathe fresh air into the game economy by making it so we can research and craft various racial furniture and house decoration plans. The racial aspect is important I think because it makes ESO unique in their housing options, and provides a multitude of furniture/decoration options for years to come. As they release new DLC, that opens up new options for furniture/decoration motifs. There should also be the option to buy motif plans as well as completed crafted furniture/decorations on the various guild stores.

I want to be able to store items in my house, and have friends over to show off the cool new decorations I just made.. :)

As far as the barber shop goes, I really hope that will be an in game gold option.

After today's pricing of the new mount, don't be surprised if they charge $50 to change your hair style.

And housing will be ESO+ exclusive.
    Call that subscription, "rent".

Fantastic post and I agree. I think back to my EQ2 days and how much fun I had with their housing system. It would be great to have a huge side diversion like housing where you could continue to work on your house/property for months if not years. Some of the creativity in a game like EQ2 or Wildstar for example was truly fantastic! Synching this up with crafting would be great.

I think this could be a potential gold mine for ZOS as well. I would hope we could craft stuff as well as have an enticing Crown store.

I just pray that it isn't some boring hook system where you decorate once and then really don't visit it again.

I kinda just want a little cave to call my own.
Just a little hole in the wall, maybe up on a ridge somewhere.

Little pond inside for drinking, maybe a mushroom farm... Pet scrib?

Thanks for your kind words. :)

I would love to see the furniture/decoration options mirroring the current armor/weapon system if they utilize my idea. I'm really hoping there is a way to do that, and that it would hopefully not be hard to implement. I think having crown store furniture/decoration options and or furniture/decoration motif book options would be a gold mine for them as well. But if we are only able to get the items via the crown store, I see that as a very bad idea on ZOS's part. After the 5k assistant, and more recently, the 4k mount, I have to admit, I'm a little afraid of what's possibly coming with housing. :(

Hopefully Barber Shop will be straightforward.

Getting your hair cut or gaining five pounds can be changed for gold.
Substantial modifications to the character (class, race) for crowns.

Housing probably still have a lot of kinks to work out, so I wouldn't expect teases until everything about the system is finalized.

I'll bet my gold that we find out more at the Bethesda E3 showcase (June 12th).

And then it takes 2 years for it to actually show up in the game.

OR the people designing it and making it get let go and then they "shelve it" because "it needs to be on the back burner for now. We have to prioritize other things first. We may revisit it." I.E. the spell crafting treatment. ZOS loves starting things then showing em off for hype.

I suspect E3 will be huge for ESO. We have no idea what's in the pipe for Q3 and Q4, and E3 will be the perfect opportunity to reveal what they have been working on all this time (i.e., housing and possibly Vvardenfell).
There are still 3 DLCs we know about that haven't been released yet (Clockwork City, Mephala's Realm, Murkmire), but it's possible they have taken the backseat for something bigger ...

Or the person in charge of the "shelved" content are no longer with the company and the company doesnt want it to be half-donkeyed by someone else.

If you want a new hairstyle, you should reroll. Choices should have meaning.

    Derp.

By that logic I should never have the option in the real world either to change my hair, make-up or jewelry. Choices do have real meaning but that doesn't mean I always want to wear the same clothes with the same hair and the same earrings forever, and ever ad infinitum.

My choice is change. I love change. I hate the same old same old. Some days I may want to go goth and others I may want to be Little Mary Sunshine. I may feel blue one day and just go with the downer and others I may want to cheer myself up with bright colours. Besides, I don't really like any of the hairstyles, want black hair for my Altmer and a good blonde for all, want more make-up choices and better jewelry choices, and none of that is fixed by rerolling.

And, of course, none of the above covers the "OMG what did I do" feeling when your carefully created character looks wrong in the world because there is no meaningful preview. Nope, barber shops with reasonable cost and wide flexibility are the only way to go.

I agree with you. I was making fun of those that are all about games being appropriate means of teaching life lessons about choices having consequences, hence the "derp." Of course these options should be in the game. It's a game. Who cares if someone wants to change something? It's a waste of time to have to regrind everything just for a new race or style, especially when ZOS feels it's okay to make huge changes every patch which invalidate most player's choices anyway.

Is an ugly hairstyle like that really worth the work? Then again I would rather see more reasons to actually play the game (like lagfree/hackfree pvp), more challenging pve, and maybe even more quests. Have your barbershop an re-customization, but be ready to see 700-1500 crowns per use. No refund when you screw up again and your pretty princess is still ugly.

Housing is just fluff to distract people from what companies do to trash their own games. I personally hope housing never comes to ESO so they can focus on useful content that wont just be a awful moneygrab.

Then again, maybe Im just tired of seeing a game I like go downhill so that people can beg for useless fluff on the forums.

I really want to change my main character's colourscheme to be like it was when I first made him, as I made him on an old computer which didn't display colours correctly; and now that I have a new computer with good graphics I think he looks awful.

    ....

I know! I'll just buy a new character slot and remake him. Silly me for caring about everything I've accomplished on him ;).

We really need Barber Shop in-game......

Cant ZoS just stop for a few days working on whatever they are and give us barber shop?.. All barber shop needs to do is to give us the option to change hair/beard/color for Gold.

NOT CROWNS(Like how Star Wars The Old Republic did...That was horrible..), but like how WoW did.
I am sure the Barber Shop will help the RP'ers more but it will help the other people too.

Really hope they focus on it.

If I die tomorrow I do not want to think of the game I could of played today, therefor I will play whatever I want today while securing a future to play in as well.

A true gamer will think of all the possible outcomes and execute the one that is the hardest to accomplish.
