Necromancy ideas

I'd like to see a Necromancer skill line put into the game at some point, if it be through a guild, or a Conjuration Staff, or maybe even a whole new class! I've brought it up in game chat before and a lot of people would like to see it to, while others say it wouldn't fit with lore so I say. "How wouldn't it fit with lore?" We fight Necromancers on the daily, and Sorcs can already summon daedra whenever they want, which should be illegal or off-putting or shunned because of the whole Soulburst and Dark Anchor thing...but I don't see it mentioned a lot...but anywho.

Skill 1: Raise Undead - Summon a corpse to fight for you.
Morph 1: Flesh Atronoch - Summon an empowered Flesh Atronoch, deals X% increased damage.
Morph 2: Diseased Undead - Summon a diseased corpse to fight for you, also dealing X disease damage per second to nearby enemies.

Skill 2: Corpse Explosion - Detonate corpses in targeted/nearby area, dealing X damage per corpse to enemies in the area.
Morph 1: Death Pool - Ability now leaves a pool of disease on the ground, dealing X disease damage a second to enemies in the area.
Morph 2: Cannibalism - Ability now heals you for X, with X increasing with the amount of corpses consumed.

Skill 3: Death Ray - Strike your foes with a Necromantic beam, dealing X damage. //OR have it be a channeled ability like the Templar's radiant destruction.
Morph 1: Soul Steal - Ability now restores Health/Magicka/ Stam. // Pick one.
Morph 2: Crippling Ray - Ability now reduces enemy movement speed by X%.

Ultimate: Boneyard - Call upon the bones of the dead to reduce enemy movement speed in targeted area by X% for X Seconds.
Morph 1: Graveyard - Ability now deals X damage per second.
Morph 2: Cemetery - Ability now Summons X amount of skeletons for X seconds. // Killable skeletons, or immune but deal small damage.

Definitely should and could be in there.

It so fits with lore, skyrim had many necromancers, the main bad guy is a necromancer

It would work well (i can see using slain NPCs causing a bit of trouble) you can circumvent such problems by simple conjuring or even passives that increase due to number of slain etc.

I like your ideas as well

I'd love it if the skills were learned only if you found necromancers willing to teach you in hidden corners of Tamriel. There are several paths that lead nowhere, and hidden refuges could be put there where individual necromancers are. Make each one give you a quest or series of quests before you can unlock the next skill in the line.

Fitting into lore.... I would love to see a choice in the Mage's guild quest line to morph your Mage's guild skill line to Necromancy if you choose to go to the "dark side."

I keep getting Dragon Age lore and TES lore confused. Is necromancy "evil" in TES? I know daedra summoning always has its risks but I can't recall that necromancy in TES is inherently viewed as bad

In most eras, necromancy is bad and most often banned by the more civilized parts of society. This is why you usually see necromancers working alone or in cabals far from the more civilized folk.

Mage's guild frowns upon it's use. Most mages who use necromancy are expelled and shuttered away from society.

Ties into the politics of Daedric worship.

I think it is workable. I said the same thing about a monk class

I would love to see a necromancy skill line! I like the idea of having a conjuration staff. Heres a cool idea; the staff itself wont do damage, but rather it summons a spirit and then the staff acts as a targeting system for the spirit. So basically whichever enemy you point the staff at is the one your spirit attacks. You could have different types of staves, one that summons a melee spirit, and another that summons a ranged spirit. Then of course active abilities could focus on raising and turning enemies. A necromancer build could focus entirely on making sure you never directly engage the enemy.

I've been really hoping for Necromancy and Shamanism to become skills we can actually use. I'm getting tired of seeing all these enemies with sweet abilities that we have no access to. Many opponents use our regular class skills, but those two classes stand out as something alien for us. I'd so look forward to Necromancy or Shamanism. Preferably as World Skills anyone can have as opposed to dedicated classes. I'd like all classes to be able to summon and heal as opposed to those being strictly on Sorc and Temp.

I always play as a necromancer in MMOes , I can only summon 2 creatures ( besides ultimate ) via Daedric skill line , I wish to be called one man army
I hope that they create a necromancy skill line for sorcerers

Necromancy in the Elder Scrolls universe is seen differently by everyone. There is no universal law against the use of Necromancy, however, some places (such as Morrowind and Hammerfell) do outlaw it within their borders, while others will sell you a body and soul gems to perform experiments on without legal persecution.

There are some general rules in regard to necromancy though.
Public display is prohibited of course
In Morrowind, the Necromancy can be utilized if practiced under established cult rituals (such as using the spirit of your ancestor to guard the family tombs from grave robbers, etc.) Freelance necromancy, however, is strictly illegal.

Mages have varying opinions on the matter as well.
House Telvanni doesn't care if you use Necromancy EXCEPT if it is used on a Dark Elf, then they have a problem.
The Mages guild had tolerated Necromancy up until the Oblivion Crisis where it was banned from the guild.
The College of Winterhold doesn't care.

If anything, I believe Necromancy (in part) could fit well into the Soul Magic area of the game. Summon Spirits, causing them to explode, etc all seems like it would fit in there quite well.

I'm not hugely into TES lore but I am fairly positive that witches and witchcraft is/was a thing in TES. This would be an opening for them to roll out another world skill line like necromancy.

Necromancy should use health as a resource.
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

Necromancy itself is not evil, however due to the historical stigma and the scores upon scores of times necromancy has threatened tamriel has led to it being banned, off and on, in certian parts of tamriel.

its not always banned, there are multiple instanced in tamrielic history that necromancy is legal, just frowned upon.

so yes, it should be in the game, just as vampires and werewolves are in the game.

should it be a choice between mages guild and necromancy, maybe, if they do it right, they can do a 'college of whispers' or something for necromancy, something of a grey line morally, i dont think it should be overtly evil, just a 'hell is paved with good intentions' thing

yes and no, health should indeed be drawn upon, but in tandem with magicka, and there should be a safty net if so

in the mmo skyforge, when your necromancer is out of life, they turn into a lich for a limited time to steal back the health lost, then there is a 15 second cooldown before they can go 'lich from death' again, in those 15 seconds its easy for necromancers in skyforge to be overwhelmed if they do not play defensivly. so something simular in eso would be preferable if necromancers are forced into using health as a spell resource

Indeed , as a vet player in skyforge , I really like using health as a recourse then get it back when in lich . Similar thing used in guild wars 2 ( lich form as 2nd health bar \ emergency health bar )

Whatever necromancy line eventually appears, and it will happen as there are enough players callling for it every so often, the ult needs to be a Lich Form structured in such a manner, But i dont think the whole Scythe thing will work for TES, so it needs to be something else, but whatever it is, it needs to steal LOTS OF HEALTH from your enemies, healing you.

this is all academic of course, i have no idea what zos might have in mind in regards to necromancy. Even if not a skill line, i at least hope the ever anticipated spell crafting has some necromantic summons attached to it
