Just curious as to everyone’s thoughts on this topic. Please explain why you think it is or it is not so.

Of course it happens. It is to be expected in a three team game.

Sometimes two teams are motivated by collective self-interest to push the 3rd. For example, if the 3rd team is dominating or has emp.

If more players were into the Alliance War concept and played the map, it would make the game somewhat self-balancing.

Of course they do. And this is one of the great advantages that you get when you have an odd number of competing groups. They will team up if someone gets too strong untill one of the team members becomes to strong and the team breaks up and a new one gets formed.

I've not seen formal alliances or such. But I have myself on occasion teamed up with opposing faction members. I remember an EP player cheering as I killed two AD players on Alessia Bridge. He didn't attack me during or after the fight and we stayed there a while and ganked AD players fighting over Sej.

Most of the time I think people just think they are being ganged up on. People often see AD fighting DC at Ash and EP fighting DC at Ales and think they are being ganged up on but dont see that AD and EP are fighting between Alessia and Sej. Same way people always think they are being zerged and they seem blind to just how large their own numbers are.

2 weeks ago AD and DC tried to coordinate an emp dethrone. But it failed (not enough offensive bodies at the time).

The factions operate in a way most beneficial to themselves without much coordination.

However, organized guilds 100% absolutely and without even the vaguest notion of a doubt "team up".

So, for instance.. when you say that PC NA Haderus that AD is facing a purple alliance, it doesn't mean that the factions have some sort of sordid cross faction alliance; But, what it means is that guilds on either side have an agreement in place to focus and assist each other versus AD.

It's not going to stop DC from attacking EP, or vice versa. But the organized guilds and whoever is following them around will be operating in a coordinated with the other faction manner.

I guess you need to remember that many of the organized "we r teh bestust" types are also in cross faction dueling guilds in large numbers. So coordination (and more that would be off topic) isn't a stretch.

Lastly, sometimes what is being perceived as "teaming up" isn't always organized or even discussed between factions. Like I led this post off with, the factions will operate in a way most beneficial to themselves without much coordination. Just because the other faction seem to be coordinating doesn't always make it so. Particularly when it comes to de-emping your faction, it's not like it's all that complicated to realize the last emp keep is going to be well defended and that fighting each other instead of the emperor faction is going to lead to failure.

Its part of RvR, sometimes when a whole faction is stacked at a last emp keep it requires a team up to get the job done. Every faction gets focused sometimes and its not a bad thing, makes for some really interesting dynamics and fragile truces that can break at anytime.

LoL I worked with Crown to dethrone EP on Azura. We literally each took an opposing side of a final emp keep and rekt the EP horde. One of the most memorable nights in pvp for me. Just because you're not privy to backdoor deals doesn't mean they're not happening.

Sometimes, since we have so many people in the same campaign with different faction toons, all in the same guilds, and team speak, it happens from time to time, one would be naïve to think other wise.

In good three faction warfare it should happen naturally when one faction gets dominating the other two factions start to attack them on different fronts, there does not need to be coordination for that to happen it just happens, but in this game seems like so many people want the easy win and the dominating factions attack the weaker faction, which is shame, when played right three faction warfare is awesome.

You've obviously never played on EU PS4. The Purple alliance stands no matter what. Blues stand side-by-side with Reds even when they own the entire map and are spawn camping Yellows. "No team ups" my ass. Tell that to the Blues + Reds who team up against Yellows no matter how the map looks.

Yes conditions can dictate temporary alliances but they should be extreme conditions. The 'conditions' of the Purple alliance on the EU PS4 server are as follows:
    • Yellows have keeps? Check

Right time to team up against them!
The name is Snape. Full time Banana fighting for his Queen and Country. Favourite hobby; killing the cowardly Covenant and Pact infidels threat.

Predominantly PVP based player running various characters. Mostly Magicka Templar, Magicka Sorcerer and Stamina Templar.

Proud Right-Hand Man of The Saints Knights and Sergeant-At-Arms of The Yellow Army.

With open world pvp, 3 factions was the right choice.

Overly dominant faction can be countered that way.
