As title says, all custom mounts have been 2500, except the ice horse. You will sell a ton of the Dro- M'Athra Senche mount if you keep the price the same as usual.

If you charge an exuberant amount more, you will turn off many players. I wouldn't doubt it having a higher price tag after the banker price.

If you agree please comment below. I know I've had crowns saved for a few months waiting on this one. Only a few more days away!

I don't think you'll need to worry that much about that. The wolf mount is coming with Dark Brotherhood shortly thereafter and there will be plenty of people riding on those--especially because they'll be able to buy that WITH the DLC and a pet.

I've noticed that most mounts tend to at least "appear" rare after a while anyway, as more mounts come out and people buy those, you start seeing the older "rare" mounts less and less because people are riding the new ones.

Personally I would rather pay the 2500 and leave it at that, because that means I'm more likely to buy another mount later because I didn't spend a fortune on this one. I didn't buy the Frost Mare because, though pretty, it was 3000, and I thought that ridiculous. The Nightmare is similarly done and is less. Pretty sure 2500 is my limit for a mount unless it has other unique functions besides looking neat.

Edited to say that yes, it may seem silly to quibble over 500 Crowns, but there has to be a limit somewhere. I originally thought 2500 was too much for a mount but I decided I was okay with that, so that's what I'm sticking with. More than that irks me.

The thing I find, is that if all prices are kept reasonable, I will attempt to whale it, and probably buy crowns on top of my sub to do so. If prices for individual items start getting out of a range that I am comfortable to spend on skins and cosmetic stuff, I'll just throw my hands up in the air and give up (not give up on the game, just give up on buying mounts/pets/costumes). Keeping everything at a reasonable amount of crowns will get more money out of me in the longterm (and I sub as well). I don't think overpricing stuff does them any favours in the longterm - once I've missed one mount skin because it's too expensive, I've kind of lost interest in collecting all of them. If that makes any sense!

It's a legacy of the old system, where horses used to have a base stat. Sorrel horse was the basic horse and had no buffed stats, it was the cheapest horse (10k). Black horse had buffed stamina, Dun horse had buffed speed, Paint horse had buffed carry weight (those 3 each cost 42k). They removed the starting stats from newly-purchased horses when they introduced character-based riding skills, but didn't adjust the prices of the mounts so that they were all the same. The difference in prices has been causing confusion ever since!

yeah i hope its maximum 3k crowns 2.5 would be even better haha. i love this mount and the summoning animation is epic and i would not buy it if it was more than that i thin the fact its only available for 4 days is enough to make it rare no need to make it overpriced on top of that.

10 years ago a plate of rice and veggies cost me like $2.50 where I live. Now they cost like 12 bucks. And the quality is visibly worse. Spending power goes up = benchmarks for what people spend changes. If you are okay with paying 15 bucks to watch a movie then spending 25 bucks on something you keep forever in game is fine. In both cases you are paying for pixels. You cant even keep the damn movie. Basically you are paying for entertainment lol. Music, movies, games etc etc. Essentially thyre all pixles.

The problem only comes in if you spend over what you can afford. If you make 5k++ a month, 25 bucks isnt really all that much of a cost.

@Vang if you personally want to spend $25 on a digital toy, you are more than welcome to, but do not try to justify the price with some wonky sense of superiority by insinuating that the reason I think $25 for a digital item is because I'm "too poor" to afford it.

I, as well as many others, judge the value of an item based on the value proposition of the item itself, not as a percentage of my total income. a $25 digital toy is expensive not because $25 makes up a large portion of my income. It's expensive because the $25 digital toy doesn't offer the same amount of entertainment value as other digital items that cost the same.

Also, your inflation example doesn't work because your recollection of the price of rice and vegetables is only a 5X increase and the price increase of the digital item is a 10X increase. By that example, the inflation rate of digital items is double that of food. That seems to be more a reason to think $25 is too much to ask.

I do, however question your recollection, the consumer price index for rice increased from 0.538 in April 2006 to 0.703 in April 106. For broccoli, it increased from 1.367 in April 2006 to 1.594 in April 2016
    http://www.bls.gov/regions/mid-atlantic/data/averageretailfoodandenergyprices_usandmidwest_table.htm

Perhaps you're just buying more expensive rice and veggies. That's more a choice on your part than an example of actual inflation.

Same with movie ticket prices. Average price in 2006 was $6.55, average in 2015 was $8.43. That's not even a 2X increase. So a person could buy almost 3 horse armors for the price of one movie ticket in 2006. Now a player can buy about 1/3 of a digital mount for the price of a movie ticket.

Justify the price for ZOS however you want. If thinking that those that don't buy it aren't buying it because they are poor or cheap makes you feel better about the purchase, then go ahead and do that. You'll feel superior and ZOS will roll in their piles of cash. It won't change my perception that a mount being the price of a DLC is ridiculously expensive.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I can't believe we live in a time where we are BEGGING to pay $25 for a singular item in a videogame. It was just over 10 years ago now that the internet was all up in arms because Oblivion was selling Horse armor for $2.50.

    Zenimax must be like...
    m3N3r8z.jpg

    @Gidorick
Its @Vangy not @Vang...... Anyway. I in no way was insinuating that you were poor. If you saw it that way then I apologize. I re-read my post and nothing in there seems to suggest that. I dont see why you took the general note about not overspending as an assault on your wealth or lack thereof which I have no clue about. In short all I was trying to say is, If you are okay with spending 15 bucks on a movie, then why is spending 25 bucks on a digital mount outrageous. They are both pixels. As long as you arent spending money you cannot afford, its up to you how you spend your $$. You think 25 is too much? dont buy it. I think its perfectly fine. So ill buy it. No need to laugh at people who would buy it which was what your meme seemed to insinuate in the first place. That is all.

Here is elloa's preview for those who haven't heard of this mount.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i3rQQgho9U4

    *SQUEALLLLLL

TAKE ALL MY CROWNS TAKE IT TAKE IT. Will buy for 5000 crowns. More expensive the better. For 2.5k crowns every tom *** and harry is gona get it. Not gona be cool when 99% of cyrodill is running around with blue streaks......

    But,..they will be.They'll go for it too.XD

TT.TT but...but..... I wants to be special cookie.....

Wanna be special cookie? Buy one of the 42000g horses ingame. When I see them,I know someone earned the gold ingame to buy them.

I'll stick with the horse I bought with my first 10,000 gold. Fed her every day til 60. But a black cat with lightning shooting out it's ****? Nah.

Someone else mentioned a horse for sale that was only 10k. I havent seen one at the stablers.Or,if I do,I forgot having seen it.
I have had my Black horse so long I could have forgotten the price of others.

**Isnt it funny that I can say my horse is black, but if I say his name is Boston "Bl-ackie",it will be starred out or snipped?
    Boston Bl-ackie was a thief/safecracker in old novels by Jack Boyle (October 19, 1881 – October 1928).

The Sorrel/Chestnut horse costs 10k gold from any stablemaster.

I'm going inworld soon and I'll check it out. Maybe it is only the black horse that costs that much. If so,I cant think why it should be that way.

Hmm.I got the Imperial version and had the white horse until I got the black one,..about two months after I started.I dont remember those prices.I guess I didnt pay attention.I do remember the feeding of the horses, but not that my black one had any Stamina stats. He got Stamina from feeding.
The things one doesnt think about until they suddenly do. XD

The best thing about this mount, in my opinion, is the summoning animation. I hate that mounts spawn in and out of existence and would really want it to be reworked one day.

That being said, I expect it to cost 3000 Crowns - 2500 for being limited plus 500 for the extra effects, like the Frost Mare. The Frost Mare was the only limited mount with special effects, so it is reasonable to assume that that's the price for mounts with these characteristics. The Mind Shriven horse didn't stay for only four days, although it didn't stay for too long either (a couple of months?), so it doesn't count.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I often start my day with a delicious $7 macchiato, since the coffee from my coffee maker isn't nearly as tasty (let's face it, I'm paying for an ice cream treat with my morning stimulus)

You may be asking, why does this matter? get over yourself! who cares!
Well it matters quite a bit you see, a cup of coffee is freaking $7!

This mount will bring me quite a bit more pleasure than a morning coffee, and it will be longer lasting. I haven't even bought any other mounts because none so far have ever appealed to me more than the imperial mount that I got when I first bought the game.

Personally whenever there is an item on the crown store that makes me swoon, usually what I do to show my support is I go ahead and buy a 5500 crown pack. At that time I get whatever the thing is, and then I also get other random crap as I see fit. So for me at least, I would pay quite a bit.

That being said, I know a high majority of players find ESO appealing because it is now free to play, and they want the nice things that artists and designers pour their soul into for days just like the rest of us do. I feel like $25 is a good price, but it might be an unappealing amount for people who are either unemployed or are paid barely enough to get by after their bills, taxes, children, and so forth.

The unfortunate fact is that if ESO is ever completely without cost, there is no reason for it to exist from a business perspective. It's not an open source project and it doesn't have a stream of donors supporting it. It has to have an effective business model and right now their business model is marketing beautiful cosmetic items.

Smh. Why?! Why would you want it to cost literally $50. That's the cost of another game. I'm begging for it to stay normal priced and ppl are hoping it's more!

It must not be you earning the money you're spending if that's the case.
