Some Words of Advice to New Players

I want to share a few words of advice to those new to ESO.

You play ESO the way you want to. If you wanna just enjoy the story line, go ahead! Want to be an awesome tank/healer/dps and do pledges? Feel free to! If you want to rp or do pvp, that's fine too. There are people who emphasize certain parts of the game, like PvP, but there is no pressure in making you do something.

Find guilds! There are a plethora of guilds with people who can help you. If you like to craft or sell, find a trading guild! There's always something that suites your needs.

Save up 10k gold for a horse! Tamriel is huge, and saving up 10k for a simple horse will definitely help you.

Find friends! You'll often run into kind people in ESO.

And most importantly, have fun. There are people out there who want to ruin other people's good times, but there always way more wanting to help.

PS: You can message me if you need advice or want a friend! I'm on PC on the NA server.

My advice to new players is stay off the forums. You will enjoy the game a lot more.

These forums are tame and should have no influence over players enjoyment of the game.

The forums are very useful for finding answers to questions, staying up to date on game changes, and getting tips on how to enhance enjoyment of the game.

No, just with the influx of new players on ESO, many of them may need help.

And yeah, forums aren't the nicest place, but still offer good advice.

Thanks for advice. I been waiting because of all the complaints about lag. Today i took the time to watch the latest ESO Live and after them not answering the one question that keep being asked over and over again about lag, fixing bugs and so on! That had me a little worried.

I did a little more looking around and I tend to see more posting of people enjoying the game. So am taking it as people that just like to complain and or are sick of getting an answer they don't like. After all, these type games always have problems.

I do admit another reason i been holding out and the main reason, is to start on 31st when DB hits. Then getting ESO Plus hitting the game at full speed.

You try setting foot in Cyrodiil during prime time and tell me you think they just like to complain. ZOS never answers the question the majority needs an answer to, they'll only answer the most obscure questions and even then they'll tip toe around the actual question, que Wroble about magicka sorcs in the latest ESO Live.

DB should be a lot of fun and if you're brand new your lvling ride will be crazy short, till you hit the CP hill though.

Well yes, I am kinda. HOW DID YOU KNOW?!

Lol, anyways some nice tips here, I would just like to add a couple to the list if I may:

    1) Always stop for Columbine and Namira's Rot, especially if you plan to PvP at some point. These will prove highly useful once you level your Alchemy skill.
    2) Level all of your skills. Save all "Intricate" trait armor pieces for deconstruction. Never vender these, use them or store them on alts as needed.
    3) Create all 8 characters right away, so you can start feeding those horses now in case you decide you want to try a different class a few months down the road. This way you won't be stuck at a snails pace while you level up. Since the inventory system is awfully stingy, these additional characters will come in handy for storage.
    3) When the game goes on sale, you can purchase an additional account for more storage and mail stuff to yourself, it's cheaper than a Banker Assistant.

My advice to those new to ESO...

Absolutely read the forums, but with a BIG grain of salt ;) There are a lot of helpful people here, but you will have to choose the best advice for yourself.

Just start playing the game your own way, trust me you will make mistakes, but you will learn the best way to get the most out of ESO for your own gaming enjoyment.

And most of all, take your time and enjoy the journey! You will never get another chance to see the wonders of ESO and the beauty of Tamriel quite the same as the first time. :)

I'm over 2 years into my journey and I still love playing the game, but I do envy those who are just now experiencing it for the first time.

Just have fun...and enjoy the journey ;)

    Exactly.
New players rarely complain as they barely can distinguish the difference between what's "normal" and what's "broken" unless its something obvious like a crash to desktop or very bad lag in PvE, where they spend most their time at.

New players aren't new for long, eventually they will discover the many broken things, lag and imbalances and get the lightbulb above the head moment. Some will stay silent about it and try ignore it, some won't. But just because a large chunk of the community lives in blissful ignorance doesn't change the obvious and game breaking issues, and then come and shoot down those that do have a problem with it. That's exactly why things aren't getting fixed in a timely and orderly manner.
We as a community should take a unified stance and say enough is enough - then ZoS would realize that maybe, just maybe they should perhaps work a bit harder.
And before someone calls me an entitled snowflake... Yeah, as a paying consumer of a product, I do feel entitled and expect a product at least of some standard. I don't expect a game to be perfect, none ever is, but letting Devs off the hook for not even ensuring the basics are working right (repeatedly mind you) is not something I will do anymore.

Love the game, but not the issues that keep coming up, and exponentially more with each and every update.

I'll offer a few tips as well.

When doing dungeons and group content, the easiest way to stay alive is just kill kill kill. heavy armour is tempting, but in the end it doesnt help. Focus on attacks that damage multipke enemies, the faster they die the sooner you are safe. Dont judge skills by their numbers, snipe may look like it hits hard with a 15k tooltip but my bow heavy attacks crit from 22l to 27k, and it only hits 1 mob.

For new tanks, try not to run the boss around the room, its harder foe the dps to kill it, which means the healer wilk heal more, and the tank's stamina can only hold back so much.

for healers, trust the dps, stay nearby so if adds get on you they can aoe them down..

For everybody, trust in the power of dodgerolling! amd instant deh can easilly be turned into taking no damage all with a dodgeroll.

this isnt a perfect world, but when I run dungeons I try to teach people this, and you'lll sti;l run into [players that tey to role play in group contemt as a stealthh assassin guy, and that just sucks.

    just my .02¢
