As a magicka templar, is the magicka recovery on high elf that significant if I'm going dual wield?

I prefer it over the cost reduction but if you are geared right both races are similar. The Altmer is just a personal fav. Enough Champion Points and you can make the racial difference significantly irrelevant.

However that being said I still prefer my Altmer templar ( a good rule of thumb for you OP, when going defensive templar (such as tank ) go Breton, when going offensive (dps/ healer ) go Altmer. The regen is more important for a proper healer imo.

I also know PLENTY of Breton Templars that have massive dps and fantastic heals and they would never go Breton so the two races are quite equal at a more advanced experience level. It's more of a novice thing where the one has a huge advantage over the other...

Although if you want to be the best, choose the best

Keep in mind Altmer vs Breton templars are not as important as Altmer vs Breton sorcs

For a templar, there is very little difference. 9% more regen does take more CP than 3% reduction. Ice comet will hit slightly harder on a high elf too. Very small numbers though.

I went breton as I wanted to go vamp so yeh spell resist may help. I got rid of vamp though but I'm still fine with breton.

It kind of depends on your build and what skills you are using.

I prefer altmer due to the diminishing returns of reduced cost.

If you invest heavily into reduced cost you are constantly shrinking a number smaller and smaller. Due to the fact that alot of the methods of reduced cost are percentage based, the actual amount of magkicka saved is based on the amount you are using. For example, if an ability costs 4000 mag, you save 120 magicka on each cast. If the ability costs 3000 magicka, use save 90 on each cast. The lower you drive the cost, the lower actual magicka is saved.

Magika regen on the other hand is constantly increasing a number, and there are currently no caps. So if your regen is at 1000 the altmer passive provides an additional 90 mag every 2 seconds. If you are at 2K it is 180 etc. As you increase your investment in recovery via gear, mundus, drink, major intellect etc, the more you increase the efficiency of the recovery racial passive.

You also will do 4% more damage if you run a destro, use meteor, valkyn skoria, vampires bane.

2500 spell resist is equivalent to about 3.77% mitigation. As a PVE healer this may be handy it some situations but is not an overwhelming benefit. It is also easily negated in PVP with all the penetration.

I'd say Altmer is the safest and most versatile choice. The argument could be made for Breton in certain playstyles.

    Just my 2 cents.
    Wood Elf Stam NB (PVP)
    Redguard Stam Sorc (PVP)
    Altmer NB (DPS)
    Imperial DK (Tank)
    Redguard DK (DPS)
    Altmer Templar (Healer)
