Would Azure Cloud improve Cyrodiil performance?
I was reading an article on MMO Age of Ascent which is very different to TESO but the first thing i thought is would using the Azure Cloud help TESO have better performance and less lag? I have been playing for a year and would love to play it for even more to come but the performance issues can sometimes make it less enjoyable and force me to stick to Imperial City for PvP instead on occasions.
'Say, for example, 2 large player clans suddenly decide to go to war on a whim (over asteroid mining rights or, more likely, some smacktalk in chat!) and they suddenly meet up in an area of space to duke it out. As the number of players engaged in combat in that small chunk of the universe skyrockets from 50 players to 500 players to 5000 players to 50k players… we have to be able to cope with the load seamlessly. And that means bringing in additional servers rapidly on demand, quickly bringing the new nodes up to speed with what’s happening in realtime and then sharing the fluctuating load amongst them – without skipping a beat. After the spacedust has settled on the debris field we then have to de-provision those additional servers so that we’re not (as a company) paying for server resource that we no longer need.'
