Xbox Gamertag change

Until we have the option to show character names instead of gamertags maybe some of you out there with regrets about an ill-chosen tag being visible to the world might like to take advantage of Microsoft's release of a swarm of inactive tags from the original Xbox. These are described as being very desirable but long unavailable. I know I wouldn't mind not having to run behind some gamertags out there. The offer begins this week if any are interested. My own is tasteful and representative.

No it doesn't. Have changed mine once in the last year already. Please bear in mind that this offer of original GT's is only open to those who have an active account for at least a year, and still in regular usage.

It is cheap to change your gamer tag, I changed mine on release and haven't looked back. If anything I'm kinda disappointed that they are looking to revert to showing toon names as my gamer tag denote's my toon names.

I'm not interested myself since my gamertag is a variation on my identification across a lot of the internet. I couldn't use it here; though I've never seen my preferred id show up on the forums. Here, I just used a favored alternate id. I would still prefer to have my character names show up in game since I don't use a mic or leave voice chat on to have a need to be recognized on more than one character.

I personally love my gamer tag, I makes people laugh and it's a bit out of the ordinary whereas the name I've picked for my toon is boring and a bit stupid. I hope they make this change togglable as I for one will NOT be using it

I'd rather have my gamertag display instead of my character name since I love mine and it seems a lot of other players love it too.

For those who prefer their tag to their character name, I completely agree with you. It should be a toggle. I am all for choice. I take a lot of time choosing a name for my characters based on many criteria that are personal to me so I would like to have them visible. That's me.

As I said, my GT is a variation on an ID I have had on the internet since AOL and as a user id on computers since the early 80s. Interestingly I, too, added a THE in front so I could stay The Lady Bastet.
