I find this funny because 2 of my 3 biggest videogame disappointments are included in this video. Even though I'm still a fan of ESO (obviously), I would still consider it a disappointment when considering the franchise it is supposed to representing.

I just hope the games Chloe mentions at the end of the video aren't disappointments!!!

ESO is fun most the time but it could have and could be a hell of lot better. And PC launch was an utter flop so this video is correct.

This is one of those things where a game tried to release itself as a 2004 quality MMO instead of taking all the things learned from MMOs the last 15 years and making it all better and cohesive.

Honestly I have to give ZOS credit I think they did a great job with Elder Scrolls they really had a lot of room to mess up big time and they pulled it off. it sucks to see this game get worse with every patch and with all this lag this game could be better but it is what it is.

That's one of the things I tell to people when they ask me about ESO @WalkingLegacy ... "Well, it's kind of running off of old technology, so it doesn't really offer much in terms of new features"

I think ZOS has been pretty responsive to issues (if not a bit slow). They've rebooted the combat systems a few times now, and are still doing massive changes to improve how the game plays, how it responds. They're shaking the boat a little, but are trying to make things better.

If ESO was in the state it was in now at launch it would have been well received. I think ESO will be able to quasi relaunch the game with a new shelf copy (mostly for consoles) that includes the DLC, updates and an expansion (or "mega DLC") to rekindle interest. And that's actually in ZOS' interest long term to keep the game on player's radar and on store shelves, too, so... I'm curious to see what they do.

I don't think ESO was overhyped as much as it was underbaked on launch.

I very much like ESO, and it's grown on me over the years. Yes, years. When they add battlegrounds, housing, and a barbershop, I *might* be really happy.

That said, ESO did fail on one major issue in my opinion: The open world. Leveled zones and linear content just REEKS of 2003. And I liked 2003, when it was 2003. But Hoobestank and Evenesence isn't so much fun to listen to anymore.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I have to say that even with the recently problems I have begun to have, crashes and freezes, that try as I may I cannot find another game I enjoy as much as ESO.
Well,Morrowind withstanding, and not an MMO.Wish it was,but it isnt and will never be allowed to become one.
I mean, for downtimes,I wanted to find a second MMO to play, but every one feels empty and flat. With no warmth or real life to them.Just like arcade games with empty quests and storylines.
Somehow ESO gives something much more, deeper and closer that other games.
People like in this video arent looking for an indepth game. They just want a quick fix of fast play without anything getting in their way.

This game has improved so much since launch! The lag is worse, but the balance among the various classes and magicka or stamina builds is orders of magnitude better than it was at launch, when magicka vampire DKs could 1v20, med armor and heavy armor builds were often kicked from endgame PVE groups etc. It may take a long time to implement big changes, but these developers certainly listen to feedback.

Also, soon all our alts will be max level as long as we have at least 160 CP - this is huge! It took me 7 or 8 months to level characters to veteran ranks through PVP at launch. Now you will be able to roll a new alt, hop in Blackwater Blade, have fun for a week or so and reach max level just playing the game without grinding.

Would love to see some of these blogs and youtubers who gave it negative reviews at launch come back and give it another chance after Dark Brotherhood, especially the PVP side of ESO, which I've found to be more fun than any other game out there.

If their list is as short as 6 and ESO landed on it. I think it shows more about how disconnected they are from the gamer community then anything else. Every gamer I know has played Skyrim and at least one of the games that came before it. But I only ever heard one gamer friend talk about ESO before its launch and he never got the game. And I was only able to convince one of my friends to get it after its launch on console. The rest refuse to touch it because they have this weird "It just aint right to play Elder Scrolls with other people." attitude as if its sacrilege for ZOS to have made an online version of Elder Scrolls to these people.

Sacrilege says the massive fan base that only ever played Skyrim :p

I'll speak only for myself here, but I've played every game in the series starting with Arena and I look at ESO as just a 'continuation' (backstory) of those other games that I loved.

It's ridiculous for people to hold to that opinion... But just look at Shoddycast's son, he was jazzed about the idea of ESO but never really played as far as I know...

I'm on the opposite side of the coin here. Everyone I know that is a fan of TES has wanted to play "Elder Scrolls with Friends" since Morrowind.

I think someone who defines TES as a "single player experience" doesn't get what TES, as a franchise, is.

I can't be the only person that finds it annoying that she and a lot of other people only seem to refer to this game as a new Skyrim or a worse Skyrim as if Skyrim was the first Elder Scrolls game. I just don't understand why people can't stop talking about a Skyrim 2 when what they really want is Elder Scrolls 6. I'm sorry, but that's just irritating.

The most amusing part to me was that while she had clearly at least TRIED some of the other games, she obviously had not tried ESO herself (or any of the writers for the show). About the only the only point they had about it was that "it wasn't Skyrim 2.0, and because it didn't love up to those expextations, it is bad." Well, that and the bugs...but still!

It's not a review @vladimilianoub17_ESO1 ... it's a simple list that is saying that ESO was an overhyped, under-delivered game. I don't know if it's arguable that they're wrong.

Mostly, though, I think this shows how the majority of people still view ESO.
