Back in early beta (maybe alpha?) there actually was a functional mini-map.

So yeah, it was already designed. They actually removed it from the game. Hopefully, like nameplates, they'll eventually realize how stupid it was to remove it, and put it back.

In the meantime, PC players can at least use addons.

This is one of the main reasons I use AUI on PC. I really feel for those players on Consoles who cannot use Addons.....

Yes, the game needs addons, for sure...

Yep. Had it... removed it for some reason:

I can see not wanting it. I wouldn't want it, but it should be an option.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

I hear this a lot. A certain feature was in beta but removed for whatever reason. It's sounds to me that someone with a lot of authority but not a lot of gaming knowledge was making early decisions on the game

Same with buff/debuff bars. They wanted visual queues.....and look how well that *** works.

This is why I don't play games on consoles anymore. In ESO (for example), if I couldn't use addons, I wouldn't play the game at all.

I am addicted to my minimap - I need it! I would really like for it to be via the game instead of an addon just like they have combat text now. I get lost all the time - it keeps me straight.

They had a full functioning MMO UI in alpha. They removed it because of a small yet vocal sub group of TES fans wanted the UI to look like skyrim. In the end Zos said it was always their vision which is BS since they have not shown much continuity to demonstrate the presence of a vision.

A minimap ruins the immersion of Skyrim players and therefore is not present in ESO.

Yea - it might not be good for immersion but neither are the scrolling combat texts. However, easily enough it can be turned on/off and so could a minimap. Options for all!

Mini map from addon is awesome & very helpful in eso, but with an issue with delay in reloading when crossing the border line between general and local (eg. city) map. Official map built-in game is needed to replace the addon.
Hope it would not have this lagging effect when entering new area.
Imo minimap ruins nothing. It can ruin immersion the same way like the original map built-in game.

I like not having and having a minimap depending on my mood. UI features should be present and toggable on or off. Makes no sense not to have options unless you are literally trying to alienate a section of the possible playerbase.

Small yet vocal subgroups of players seem to be the main cause of a lot of the stupid design decisions made in this game...

It is kind of sad if they removed it because some players didn't want it... Instead of just making it optional so all players can choose for themselves.

Is it just me or does the game look better in that video than it does now. I don't really know what it is, the colors, the map, the minimap, nameplates, kinda like the npc models more.

Visual cues are so broken... 10 minutes into a dungeon all the buff cues are permanently up regardless if the buffs are active or not, with particle effects floating at weird angles a few feet away from my character. 2 years its been like that. WTF ZOS?

I just played a week on PTS without any addons so I would know any issues I found were not add-on related. My minimap was definitely what I missed most. The MiniMap addon is great but there is a performance hit from using it. I agree this should be included in the UI with a toggle.
