Is it legit? Cheap copies of ESO

On youtube an advert popped up for a digital copy of ESO for £6.99. I looked at the website and it looked pretty professional but it's not a company I've ever heard of.

I was thinking of getting a copy of the game for my girlfriend so we can do some gaming together (I know she's a lucky girl, and this is definitely not just my way to get more time on ESO!).

As the ESO website sells the game for £50, can the cheap copy be a legitimate purchase of the game that we could use without issue?

You can get it on Amazon for that price, so if you don't trust that website, use Amazon

As LMar said, Amazon sell the physical copies for £10 so just use them if you want to be sure.

Yeah, resellers have to be taken with care, since the mere copy of the game does not mean much - you also need an unused activation code with it to play as I recall. Thus the importance of it being an actually never used "unopened" copy, instead of an "second-hand" thing... where the activation would already be linked to the original buyer instead.

I think a lot of major gaming companies will sell items far cheaper through 3rd parties, whether for a short term sale or permanent. They sell at full price on their own sites (unless they run a sale) just to get the people who are too lazy to look around. I bought the physical Imperial edition long ago before the game was released, but have bought two more copies for family members at much reduced prices. My favorite thing to do with games that I want but don't have to get right away is to wait for a sale on Steam, Direct2Drive, etc.

There is a list of authorized resellers here. This list is old, but the reason why they are releasing the list is worth reading.

If buying from Amazon, make sure you are buying new in the box, unopened.

Edit: For people reading this in the next 3 hours, humblebundle.com has both the standard and Imperial edition (PC/Mac) on sale for 50% off.

I switched to PC after the DB announcement. Had an unused PC account since Last Christmas. Bought it on Steam Wiener Sale for 8$. Yes, it's the imperial edition too.
