VMSA Nearly As Buggy/Laggy As Cyrodiil (Video Inside)

I was testing my pet build on VMSA, when this occurred. I'm currently well over 700 champion points, with a Hardened Ward shield that absorbs ~31k damage. I also applied Harness Magicka as well, just to be safe. But apparently, that wasn't enough. Oh, and notice the teleport at the end of the video. Where my character was, compared to where they somehow ended-up. As well as the Argonian Minder's positioning throughout it all.

The only cuts made to the video, was to shorten get straight to the point of what happened. I have the full boss and stage video, if anyone wants to see it for further proof.

I aslo have relatively fast internet. Approximately 400 mbps wired connection, as well as 9ish ms ping. And I always play on wired. So my Internet is clearly not the problem. I also monitor my connection speed(s) while playing, to insure that I'm not lagging on my end during gaming sessions.

I have stuff like that all the time in vMA. It's why I've entirely stopped going for score/speed and just do it casually a few rounds a sitting (until I lag and want to throw my controller then I take a break).

Not good. That's really not good. Nor should any of this be happening. I'm fully aware that large-scale games lag. I'm very aware of this. Even fighting games have noticeable lag in them, due to all of the inputs being applied, internet connections from both people meeting, and background effects transpiring.

But this? This is ridiculous. Not to mention on consoles there's a significant amount of time before a lot of things get addressed and fixed. And that in itself is ridiculous.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_KaiSchober @ZOS_RichLambert Mind taking a look at this thread? Crap like this has been going on for months now.

And when they'll fix it the 2nd issue will still remain, you'll end up with every possible combination of defending weapons but never the right weapon with the right trait.

Yup seems about right I mean vMSA is already a chore to do but not it's just frustrating. I use to earn 370k normal (still getting everything down) but when TG dropped I've been hitting below 300k consistently; lucky I'm a DK so there's less clears n I still get my wep every week.

I've made countless forum posts with videos calling on ZOS for a ETA for the fix but unfortunately the forum post dies and not one ZOS employee responds to it as an acknowledgement that they know this issue is going on for a lot of players. I mean I'm quite sure they do know it's going on but at-least some notification regarding it would be something instead of flat out right ignoring it.

Looks like a l2p issue to me.

rofl sorry just had to. Anyway... Yeah Zos has said they're working on these sorts of issues, along with a "message" error that is kicking people off the servers. Anyway the reason this is happening is for some reason the network between console players and their respective servers is acting like "satellite internet", it's gathering up packets and burst sending the information which creates latency issues like this, and the bursts of info can trip server anti-spam mechanics and kick you from the server as well. Till this gets fixed the only thing you can do is switch your schedule to none-prime time or just keep trying.

Lol. WTF are the developers doing? I mean seriously. What are they doin'? They are constantly pushing DLC after DLC, and crown store items like crazy. And yet this type of crap is happening? Really? I quit PVP after being a hardcore PVP player (I mean it was to the point I strictly PVP'd for months), all because of the lag happening. And now its invading PVE this bad? And not to mention we (the consumers) are pointing these things out, while constantly telling them to slow down, and fix what's going on. And they just are flat out ignoring us? What are they doing? Seriously. What are these jokers doing?

Do you have any idea how hard it is to write massively parallel real time network processing code across multiple platforms? Do you know how hard it is to debug such code? Do you know how hard it is to even determine if it is the code in the first place?

This isn't a web page or blog they're developing. Having worked on massively parallel code bases I can say from firsthand experience that even what appears to be simple/obvious issues can be notoriously difficult to track down and fix, and that's on fairly homogeneous hardware. In a heterogeneous environment or a heterogeneous code base, it becomes that much more difficult. Worse, issues can lurk for quite some time before being discovered, which means lots of additional code could have been added. Code that now may break since it was relying on a behavior that no one knew about until things actually broke. Big complex code bases are like that sometimes.

New DLCs, by comparison, are pretty straightforward. You've got new assets, new story, and new scriptable actions. I'm pretty sure their client was built with expandability in mind so it's already got all the underlying fabric to build and add new content. DLCs are primarily client side incarnations; they don't require significant modification to the server/networking side of things. Or I should say, I don't see any compelling reason to believe that it would be otherwise.

Complexity aside if Zos actually did competent QA testing before pushing their crap code to live servers maybe we wouldn't have to put up with *** like this. Something being hard isn't an excuse to do sloppy work.

I just stopped running VMA. Too much of a boring grind with little chance to get decent rewards and high chances of frustration due to lag and bugs. We'll see what happens when VMA launches.

Whoah, I just started running seriously vMA last saturday and I lagged like crazy for the whole session... I made it to Valkyn Soryak (I gave up then), so you can immagine the difficulty I have been through as a new comer.

And I realized how much of a lag check most of that trial is... 4th stage's boss Fire Volley that hit me even when I didn't stop running, the poisonous flowers in 7th arena that hit you no matter how many speed buffs I have or how far fron red circles I was, Flame Trails skill that shots you after 3 secs... and the lost goes on. Not to mention the *** lag input.

Note to self: no vMA in weekends.

I thought I had it bad. . . Some of those clips were incredibly rough to look at, due to how bad the game performs.

Yet, there are still people on these very forums who will argue with you up n' down of how the VMSA only needs drop-rates evaluated, and no other parts. Lol.

vMA definitely lags/teleports youa round. Most of the time, youre struggling against broken/unintended things rather than the actual bosses.
The other day i was doing the 3rd stage when all of a sudden i was stuck to the ground. It had something to do with one of the tentacles pulling me to the other side of the room in the middle of a roll and that just bugged me out stuck to the ground.
Poison stage is *** too. If you get poisoned and you roll into the purge circle, it will take 2-3 seconds for it to register that you rolled into the purge. Much easier if u simply run it but thats less speed and reaction time.

Again, 90% of the time in vMA, your fighting against RNG and LAG.

My favorite on Stage 5, is when a huntsman uppercuts me, only for me to smacked into the freezing water by the boss; right after I CC-broke, and was supposed to be immune to CC effects. Lmao.

VMSA PS4-NA is starting to look like Azura's Star during prime-time, before it became a non-CP campaign. I kid you not. It's like a slideshow right now. I couldn't even beat the 5th stage at one point due to desyncs and lag.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Can we please have the devs look at this? This is ridiculous. I'm not even in PVP, and I'm lagging this bad. And I know it's not my internet, as the lag always starts on the 3rd stage, but peaks on stages: 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Especially 7 and 9.

So what you're saying is they're attempting to do something that is actually too difficult for them to do? I did a computer science degree 15 years ago with some programming modules and I remember how much of a nightmare debugging my code was. I then went on to work for the online banking QA team of a well known building society and saw how QA should be done by an organisation with plently of money. I can scale my experiences up in my mind and imagine just how difficult it must be to code and QA for eso. So why don't I have sympathy? Zos have lots of money behind them. So much money they can afford to pay one lucky winner of a random publicity stunt 100k/year for the rest of his life. It would appear that zos like to earn the money and be seen to splash it about, but also like to skimp where they can to save money (development/QA). The game has been out over 2 years and has a cash shop and is in a worse condition than it was at launch. Poor zos it must be so hard for them.

I'm not suggesting they're messing up deliberately, I'm suggesting they're inexperienced and too comfortable. Maybe get rid of some artists and replace them with techies. Their game looks so pretty but runs so poorly.

I had a new one the other day. Stage 9 round 3, a healer decided to go invisible. She would only take damage from heavy attacks with my swords (not my staff) and the initial tick of my liquid lightening. All you could see was a gold orb where the tip of her staff should be. Couldn't kill her because she just kept healing. Had to jump in the lava and die.

This place is a total disaster.
