Just another fatuous aspect of the 'Justice' system .. if someone wants to role-play a sociopath I should be able to role-play a vigilante.

I don't PVP usually but Open World PVP when it's consensual has it's place, and if someone attacks an NPC they clearly want to be flagged for PVP.

Ignoring the whole Justice System PvP debacle...

I'm more annoyed that if you have "Prevent Attacking Innocents" turned on, you can't defend yourself when one of those "innocents" turns red and starts wailing on you because he noticed you trying to pick his pocket.

I want to be a thief, but not a murderer. Killing in self-defense is not a crime in this game, and doesn't get you a bounty. When an innocent goes from white to red, I should be able to attack him back, even with that "prevent" setting turned on.

Not necessarily true. There is an achievement associated with killing innocents.

Also what you are describing is pvp. My question to you is why are you not in pvp? if this is the kind of game play you want, it is already available. So what's the problem then?

I feel for ZoS. You really can't please everyone.

How does this statement make any logical sense in any universe?

That's doesn't follow at all. There's tons of reasons to attack "innocent" NPCs in this game, and none of them equate to "I want to open myself for ganking by actual players."

Open World PVP spells for an out of order insane area where players go mad in a killing spree. We don't need this in Elder Scrolls. Theres a war raging in Cyrodiil, there you can kill players.

If you wanna play as a sociopath killing vigilante Grand Theft Auto Online is the kind of Open World PVP you need. The place is exactly what I just described.

There is open world PVP in Cyrodiil, why bring to to PVE? Some people want and enjoy the justice system but are not into PVP. I know there have been several times when i would have been flag entirely by accident just for using an aoe and hitting an npc that was fighting the mob, or opening a contained and miss and pick up a hunk of cheese and being attacked. Why should i be flagged and forced to PVP?

I'll give you the real reasons, Op. We can't attack other players because before the thing even went to a real beta, it was being abused by alpha testers.

Somebody finally got smart and said: you know, lets see if we can predict what the very worst of our playerbase would do with this system!

What they found out is that, unless they made the flagging system exceptionally complicated, than both criminals AND vigilante's would group up in large groups and 'farm' or 'grief' players who were trying to participate in the justice system solo or in smaller groups.

Just like Cyrodiil: the zerg/herd and 'exploit every mechanic because that's cool' crowd ruins all.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I don't worry about the NPCs being killed, they get respawned in a few minutes.

Just yesterday, I was doing some writs in Daggerfall and and there were about 15 or 20 NPCs all dead on the ground near the Woodworker Shop, I even have a screen shot. Most of them were dups, dead dups, but still dups.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Because nobody wants to be ganked while experiencing the game and listening to NPC reactions. The last thing I want is to be enjoying the Thieves Guild storyline, and suddenly some zerg decides to take me out for just doing what the quests told me to do.

This is a storyline-driven game. If you want PVP, go to Cyrodil.

Most quests require killing an NPC. Sometimes many of them. That would mean we are consenting to open world PvP for just playing the game. Yea, don't think that'll fly far.

Agreed. I shouldn't have to go to Cyrodiil to get various quest and exploration achievements (like skyshards or dolmens). Make the PvP areas PvP only.

ESO has never been about out and out open world killing just for the hell of it.There is a world of life, story, and more that makes this game different than GTA and others like it.Which makes it so popular.
It has no reputation for being a "kill cos I can" game.
If they ever turn it into that,an open world where anyone can gank anyone else, that will be the end of my ride. However,I dont believe ZOS will take this direction ever.I think they would lose a lot of players.Players who have been on board and love the TES series for a long time.

what about accidentally attacking an NPC? I've done that a few times before and I'd hate to be flagged for PVP against anyone just because of a mistake (luckily now I have innocent attacking turnd off)
