    Well, consider the trigger pulled.
Turns out I'm a sucker for quality and specs even it they come at a price. BUT to my credit I didn't give in and get the sexy Razer Blade.
You guys helped me out a TON with all the info, cheers everyone!

If it's not too late, get the option where XOTIC PC will "Redline" your operating system. That means they take out all the bloatwear, fix the insane and broken settings in the registry, take out the unnecessary junk in your startup, and generally slim down and bug fix your OS. I had this done and it was the best $50 I ever spent. My Windows has been solid as a rock and fast, fast, fast. You might also want to get a DVD with the redlined OS on it as backup.

EDIT: This service is now called OS Boost and costs $35

They will also redline your graphics if you want. That means they will overclock it for you to the fastest stable speed it can do. A nice service if you are not an overclocking expert yourself. Not nearly as important as the OS fix, but a nice performance boost.

IMO you dodged a bullet with the Razer. No insult to their product, but ANY ultra slim laptop that also tries for performance has serious heat issues. It's just physics. They use the same chips as the other manufacturers so they have to dissipate the same amount of heat but they have less room for air flow and heat sinks.

Rather than paying for bloatware removal, I'd just do a clean OS install. Then you know exactly what's on it. No guessing. That's what I did.

My laptop typically runs 50 to 60fps on live and lately I've been getting 60 to 100FPS on PTS. Yeah, seriously, 100FPS.

    What that doesn't do is:
    • Locate and remove the unnecessary junk MS includes with their OS
    • Locate and remove or fix the broken registry settings
    • Remove unnecessary services and startup items
    • Find and install the various EOM drivers for that particular machine (Windows only comes with reference drivers)
    • Optimize settings for gaming

Can you do all that yourself? Sure, if you are tech savvy, know Windows in depth, and have a lot of time. For some people that is a fun challenge. For me, it's just an annoyance I will happily pay to avoid.

Correction: their service is now called OS Boost and costs $35

Yes, I did all of that myself. Probably a couple of hours for me. 20 year IT professional.

I would get the thermal repaste if you're not inclined to do it yourself. Often the paste from the laptop manufacturer is lower quality and poorly applied.

Not a bad choice at all except 1 huge mistake: 128GB for the SSD is really really really too small. The bare minimum for what you want to do is 256GB and nothing less. 512GB would be the comfort zone.

Don't believe me ? Let's talk again in 6months. The drive will show like 107GB usable in windows. Your OS and windows updates +pagefile alone will take up over 35GB of that space. After installing ESO until a playable state another 50 is gone. there will be no space to install the PTS or any other games like this unless you force the installation to go on the slower harddrive which defeats the whole point of getting an SSD. Before the end of the 6months you will regret your choice for the SSD my friend.

I just read this and don't know if it's too late but if you can CHANGE THE SSD for a bigger one. You will thank me bigtime in 6months ;)

Yup I feel ya. I probably should have just went with a bigger one from the get-go, but luckily this laptop seems to be easily upgradeable. I'll probably end up doing that before long xD

I strongly recommend you buy a MacBook Pro . Nicely sleek design . Great performance . And zenimax has done a great job on the OS X client
