Awaiting the 2017 ESO:TU Expansion Announcement

This is all pure showerthoughts.

I'm hoping for something against hope. A true expansion. 80 hours of storyline, three new full zones (including one on an oblivion plane similar to coldharbor, and several microzones), expansions on all the guild questlines (thieves, dark brotherhood, fighters, mages, and even undaunted). Continues the main story, but this time completely independent of faction, only to have you choose a faction at the end (for a permanent faction change if you choose) or neutral.

Launch it on the 3-year date of April 4, 2017.

This would let them merchandise the game back up to the full $60 for the next three years, but would be available to those who already own the base game for $45.

Introducing a level cap increase from 50 to 70. CP cap increase to 750. Includes a large surplus to base-game and prior DLC content, including: new homes, new tattoos, new personalities, new hairstyles, new armor transmog options, new mount armor and equipment options, more PvP battleground maps and modes, new daily assignments for all guilds, new hiest zones, assassination missions, fighters guild defense jobs and mages guild research assignments.

Also we see the addition of the new spellmaking system, as well as manor islands! These private, magically created estates give the players full control over their manor house and surrounding outbuildings, allowing players to grow crops, dig up mini-dungeons, and even build their own lair/hideaways!

This of course would happen AFTER the Dark Brotherhood DLC, the 'House, Hearth and Home' DLC (which included barber shops, more personalities, and overall improvements of the roleplay system on consoles by introducing local area and guild text chat options), and the 'Fires of War' DLC (which includes massive overhaul of Cyrodiil and calculation handling which reduces lag and increases responsiveness, as well as the introduction of 20v20v20 battlegrounds and 1v1 dueling).
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

Aaanyway; As Varen hinted at the end of Orsinium, there will be some daedric war, and there will be clockwork city. Mephala's realm is also a thing, tho' it probably is part of the daedric war theme which will be the next step in the story's progression.
Should we be worried about the story progressing trough DLC ? Of course.
Should we do it NOW ? heck, we put off washing dishes why can't we put this one off too?

I would love to see a full expansion, far more than just the new zone every 3 months, but something meatier and story driven. And it would be easy for ZOS to bundle it with all the previous DLC and the new content. That said, I don't see that happening. ZOS has said they prefer the subscription for content/crowns for DLC method.

Yeah, I expect that an expansion is a possibility.

"ZOS continues to work on ESO DLC, continuing support and maintenance, as well as unannounced projects."

They are doing something, and I am not certain that the "ESO DLC, continuing support and maintenance" is the majority of what they are working on right now.

I would rather it be more Elder Scrolls IP, like an expansion, than some new game.

Expansions seem the best method of introducing a bigger story to the game. The DLCs so far seem to be fleshing out what these other Provinces and Kingdoms have been up to while the rest of Nirn goes to Oblivion in a Dolmen basket.

I really dont mind the approach to DLCs. They have to explain what these areas have been experiencing and why they havent joined up with one of the three alliances.

But Im having a hard time picturing how they would introduce such a war without an Expansion unless they start doing it in the DLCs. Which would leave people wondering about those areas and its past.

I know STO waited close to 5 years to move their plot forward and it was a trainwreck. It got to a point where it was painfully obvious the team had spent no time planning any of it and were just trying to get it over with. Hopefully something like that doesnt happen here.

I don't see there being an 80 hr storyline expansion by 2017. XIV did 50 hrs and they are know for pushing out content faster than most mmo companies. Also, ESO charges 25 bucks for 20 hrs of storyline in Orsinium, so that would compare to about 100 bucks for an expansion. Who would buy that?

How would including Thieves or brotherhood in all encompassing expansion work? Does someone who buys the expansion get the previous 2 DLC free or some other kind of method if they don't own the original dlcs?

I can't be 100% certain but I don't think the base character level cap is being raised is planned here. At least imo I think that is why all the work went into developing VR then Champion then ditching the VR. All that being said...

    I would like to see:
    *Forty hour storyline
    *1-6 new zones
    *New public dungeon
    *Housing
    *Spellcrafting
*Auction house or horse(Something different than now)
    *New active skills
    *New weapon skill lines
    *2-4 Four man dungeons
    *New 12 player trial

    All for about 40-50 bucks.

I'd like to see separate guild expansions ranging from 10-25 bucks depending on the size of content expansion. This way players can buy the style of content they like playing and skip the other styles or get them all piece by piece if they wanted.

The ESO map depicts Vvardenfell as half the size that it is in Morrowind, in ESO it will roughly be the size of The Rift so if your expecting it to be a giant zone prepare to be disappointed as ESO spits on your nostalgia and gives you a "Mini-Me version of Vvardenfell.

    tamriel.jpg

Seriously..how many people has this not occurred to yet? you can see it right there on the map where it is roughly the same size of the rift which is located just to the west of it.

Now this below is what the Tamriel map looks like in Skyrim, as you can see Vvardenfell isn't squished.

While this would be an amazing dream, I know this won't happen... It will take so long to flush out the stuff they have been promising since the beginning of the game. So many things promised in BETA haven't happened yet.

So let us hope and pray...

But I won't be holding my breath that's for sure. The day lag disappears from Cyrodil, I'll probably be a grandmother. (I'm 23 and no children so... It'll be a while!)

ZOS is going to go with the route that makes the most money, right now that means churning out little DLCs each quarter and loading the crown store down with cosmetics. With the current model I just can't see a legit expansion being on the table.

Maps are variable things. You cannot lay one map on top of the other and declare one of them wrong. You must treat them as opinions. If you compare several maps, you first have to remove derivative maps.

The only way to be sure is to go and measure.

Even in the games, the absolute size is a representation of the world. Does anyone really think that Skyrim is just under 40 square km because that is the calculated size in the game? 14 square miles? Kansas city is 300 square miles. Pierre, SD, is 13 square miles

Maybe we do think that then entire province of Skyrim, with several holds, huge mountains, and numerous 'cities', is slightly larger than a state Capitol that many people have never heard of.

So, in ESO we may finally get to know what the actual relative size of all these places is. We may be able to walk Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and Vvardenfell for ourselves, all in the same game, and actually answer questions like these. Of course, it will be a relative answer, not absolute.

    Edit... hate android spell check

They can simply add to the MAP by introducing sections DLC by DLC. They don't have to add the entirety of a region all at once, and ZOS has already said they like the quarterly DLC release schedule. As others have also noted, ESO does NOT have the expansive team they did when developing the game, so I doubt they have the resources to work on DLCs while simultaneously working on a large expansion. Honestly, it wouldn't make financial sense to do so, not when they can make more money by giving smaller DLC zones with each DLC.

1-4 player dungeons or housing are good things indeed.
