What do you think Crafting Bags will do to Material Prices?

Material Prices will be about the Same
I imagine like lots of people mention v1-14 mats will crash. But that has nothing to do with the crafting bag, and everything to do with a large portion of people never needing to do that content again.

Also depending on how the rune changes finally shake out on the test realm you man see some movement there. But again not because of the bags.

Undoubtedly prices will plummet sharply. Nobody will be able to sell the common materials for any reasonable amount of gold.

It's basic supply and demand at work here folks. There is no way prices go up.

Its basic supply and demand. I dont think its going to have a huge impact, but the more mats sitting in peoples bags and not in guild traders, the lower the over supply. This will increase price. Econ 101.

I know nothing of this hoarding you speak of. I swear I havent saved every single mat, monster set, or BOP item I have ever found. haha.

I agree top tier mats will go down in price. ZOS decision to let just anyone harvest top tier mats with 0 crafting skill was a dumb one.

Huh? I was under the impression that in scaled zones, nodes will also scale to whatever level a player has in passives for clothing, woodworking, metalworking and so on.

    Has this changed?

In DB half of the time you will get nodes that scale to your crafting level, the other half of the time it will scale to your combat level. So a cr160 with no crafts leveled will get ruby nodes half the time.

    That's stupid.

I should be able to wield a bow, then, that, half the time, fires at the combat level I have in bows (6), and the other half of the time it fires at VR16, right?

I spent a lot of time earning points to put into crafting passives, so this move by Zeni certainly cheapens the effort.

There are some mats that you may just not see in stores anymore. Sanded Ruby Ash for instance. It's barely worth putting in a store compared to just vendoring it. I sell it only because it takes up space. With the crafting bags, I'll probably just hold onto it instead. I'm not certain that would affect the price in any significant way. Other mats like common style stones will just accumulate in my bag instead of me trashing them but I know some people post them for small amounts of gold. I don't think the value will go up but it may make them slightly harder to find in stores.

    Material Prices will Go Down
Theres no way they wont go down. The current pricing has everything to do with the ability to gather them and the limited space you have for it. Even if youre committing to just farming, youre going to gather other items through your travels as you might have to fight mobs to get to the nodes.

With a Crafting Bag, you'll be able to pluck every node even if its something that particular character doesnt need or use as you move through areas. Suddenly youre able to carry hundreds of more items that you previously had no room for.

The pricing might bounce back over time. But the Crafting Bag is definitely going to cause things to flux.

I think we will see mats for level 1-50 gear go up for the exact reason you mention: no one needs to clear out their bags so less supply means higher prices. 1-50 mats will still be useful for leveling new characters and competing in BWB.

I think the price of post 50 mats, not including void* and ruby* mats, will crash. The way ZOS is removing VR means that people will need much fewer of these mats for their characters (for example, I will never need them again at all).

I think void* and ruby* mats will largely stay the same if not go up a little bit from where they are today since they are still relevant for writs and at endgame.

Only those who dont have the bags will buy mats. Those with the bags wont need to buy mats anymore. So,the market can go either way.

My prediction is that prices on rare mats will stay the same, while prices on generic mats may go up.

Rare mats are always going to have value due to being rare, so it will always be attractive to put them up for sale. Generic mats will not be sold as much, since people will no longer have a need to clean their inventories. Fewer common materials will find their way to the market as a result, and so prices will go up.

The plus side is that we'll likely see less of these piddly little stacks of 8-15 wheat or whatever on the merchants, making it easier to find what you want.

Trader supply will probably go down if no need to clear bags, but demand should also go down as now there is absolutely no excuse for not collecting mats if a subscriber.

I'd expect a slight upswing but nothing huge - I harvest to refine and sell but equally I will hold more once I am not fighting against filling my bank up which has been an issue since it started costing most of a stack per item crafted I suspect many others will do the same but not enough to vary the prices more than a few %... plus with the supposed glut from survey exploiting still out there pushing prices down, the sudden potential surge of alts suddenly jumping to CP160 and needing new gear pushing them up and the crafting in support of post DB builds it's going to take a while for it to settle down anyway...

Might have been a bit annoying for low level max crafters if this change happened prior to DB update.

However, since nearly everyone's max crafter character will have CP 160 (or will catch up quickly if they don't yet), the change doesn't bother me at all. I will get the V16 mats 100% of the time with my crafter characters in Cyrodiil and even non-crafting characters will still get useful mats at least half the time.

When you talk about the subset of ESO+ subscribers that are going to change their selling habits like the OP ... I just don't think that is enough players to influence prices that much. This ESO+ subscriber (me) is likely not going to change selling habits.

The more pronounced influence in prices (as already discussed in this thread and other threads), is the decline in demand for V1-V13 mats ... and increase in demand for V16 mats.

Supply may go down. But now, with everyone being V1-V15 only once no matter how many alts they level, demand for many materials will go waaaaay down as well.
