What kind of build are you running? Is it possible you are missing a mechanic? In stage 7, there is a summoner that will spawn on one of the two pedestals. They are what trigger the mushrooms to go off and kill you. They need to essentially be spawn killed, which is much easier to do at range. Once I see the portal appear, I know I will have a few seconds to maneuver. I then move to the closest safe spot (not close to any mushroom) and then immediately take out the summoner when it appears. On Vet, it usually takes 1 or 2 weaves with crushing shock. On normal, it shouldnt take more than one if memory serves. If the summoner is alive for more than about 3 seconds, you will be in trouble.

I was completely unaware of the summoner...

That's the ticket right there. You just need to watch for her. There is a pedestal at each end of the arena near the pools. You need to try and keep an eye on them. The only add that spawns directly on the pedestal is the summoner. If you see a portal there, be prepared to stop what you are doing and take it out. This stops the poison mushroom chaos. It becomes second nature after a while.
Has anyone completed the Maelstrom on normal yet ?

@Strider_Roshin Can I ask what's your build? You're barely taking any damage and your health regen is impressive.

If you don't follow the mechanics you wont beat it.

It's easily doable at 200cp and purple set gear.

Its doable with less than 100cp with gear sets...

It's doable being a vampire, being completely naked, and practically standing still while spamming one button the whole time...

I am disappointed you aren't doing it with only resto heavies....

Beat it last night for the first time and I thought it was way easy. The exception was the argonian (figured out to interrupt him) and the giant in the ice stage (that water was friggin cold lol). Going to attempt veteran soon...325 cp atm.

Bit of advice, you might not want to interrupt him on Vet mode. I think people going for top leadboard spots do in certain cases, but interrupting him during a scream will cause him to enrage so everything is a one shot. Definitely not the way to learn it. You will want to find a way to DPS him from under one of the add's shields while he screams. Overload (sorc), Funnel Health (NB), Heavy Attacks with molten weapons (DK), and Reflective light/radiant destruction (templar) are probably the best answers, with a magic build anyway. On my DK i run crushing shock, so I have to resort to full heavy attacks and a meteor in this fight. The new buff to molten armaments, makes your full heavys hit pretty hard.

Lol I'm a naked vampire. There is no build, and my health regen is garbage. It's the move I'm using, Swallow Soul. It's dirt cheap, does good damage, has a 28 meter range, and it heals you.

When I said "Build" I was referring to Class & Abilities... I can see you're naked :P
I see also that you have only the one ability and the Ultimate slotted but you must have some passives?

I'd like to know how the enemies are barely damaging you at all, esp seeing they're all maxxed bosses (ie with the three gold diamonds on the health bar) that would normally one-shot me.
And I see here http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Vampirism that Vamps suffer from a lack of health regen?

I've given MA a go for the first time today. I really struggled with it on normal.

I think I died about 25 times on the poison level before giving up on it. Am I just crap, or is it really that hard? Should I give up any hope of going anywhere near the veteran version?

Been dying on that same level but in Vet, think I may switch to a magic based character.
I went outside once, the graphics were awesome but the gameplay sucked

looks like hes a Breton nightblade with swallow soul. (could be wrong on race? nord?)

well... there stuff to be said about how the overland game and normal modes are scaled....

yup, if vampires don't feed, they have no health regen. he looks starved.

ALL about mechanics and paying attention. As shown, its very easy IF you pay attention and learn.

Yeah I'm struggling a bit on normal too, although I'm using a tank build and it's my first run through it, can't really be bothered to respec, but if I continue to struggle I'll switch it up. I'm stuck at the last boss.

Even if I had the proper build I probably still wouldn't find it a walk in the park, definitely not easy, but not ridiculously hard either. Keep at it.

Normal is tough depending on how you play.
It can also be "normal" once you make adjustments to your skill choices, armor and weapons, etc.

There are lots of guides but for sure, you'll need to be able to drink potions, heal, dps on normal until you complete it once. Then for future tries, I think you'll get good and need less and less things

Vet MSA ....good luck as normal is a must before attempting vet in my opinion

I looked at guides but I didnt change my build. I didn't think I would need to on normal mode.

It is only the poison level I am struggling on. I am REALLY struggling on it though.

What platform do you play on?

    Windows

Maelstrom arena normal is easy and very playable. It's the veteran mode where I'm struggling and you will too!

You may be naked but you probably have 500 cp well spent on that character.

It's not tough but you must learn the mechanics. One cannot just plow through it. Especially in the poison phase. Even in normal mode decent area awareness and knowledge of the mechanics is helpful.
